World Champ Sabastian Sawe Runs 58:05 To Defeat WR Holder Jacob Kiplimo By 4 Seconds At The Copenhagen Half-Marathon

Kenya's Isaia Lasoi was a close third in 58:10. There was a lot of excitement around Jakob Ingebrigtsen's half-marathon debut, but after going through 10k in 27:27 (a Norwegian national record and on pace for 57:54) he pulled up and stopped running. He continued on (with a couple more stops) to finish in 63:13. World half silver medalist Margaret Kipkemboi won the women's race in 65:11 over Judy Kemboi (65:43).

Arop missed the 25-year-old record of 2:11.96, but still set a North American record. Other distance winners included Kenya' s Leonard Bett (steeple - 8:06.33), Kenya’s Nelly Chepchirchir (800m - 1:57.00), Italy’s Sintayehu Vissa (1500 - 3:58.33) and Belgium’s Isaac Kimeli over Cooper Teare in the 2000m (4:54.29 to 4:55.42). LRC Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Will Not Be Allowed To Compete In Diamond League 200m/400m Finals

According to multiple sources, Diamond League CEO Petr Stastny announced today at the technical meeting for the Weltklasse Zurich meet that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will not be allowed to compete in the two Diamond League finals next week as she's not eligible since she didn't compete in any regular season DL meets. Meet organizers are contemplating having her run in the pre-program presumably against less-than-stellar competition.

The 49-year-old has been stripped of the silver medal she won in the women's 2012 Olympic 1500m (a race from which 6 of the top 9 finishers have received doping bans). Tomashova initially finished 4th in that race, but was upgraded to silver when the Turkish runners who finished 1-2 failed drug tests. With Tomashova's ban, Shannon Rowbury (who initially finished 6th) moves up to third.

Cheptegei finished 44th in the marathon in Paris and won gold at the World Mountain and Trail Championships in 2022.
