My times weren’t close to his but we’re good enough that I know what I’m talking about.
I found breaking 14 far more difficult than breaking 8:00. Regardless of how I’d run it. I probably needed 7:55 shape to run 14:00. Not sure why as I ran high mileage with most workouts tempo-based but basically no way would work: if I’d go out in 8:15 I’d fall off while if I’d be through 8:35 i couldn’t close fast enough. What I ended up doing was coming through in 8:30 and closing in a 57 last lap. It’s just far more difficult than 3000
Weather isn't looking ideal with tempatures in the mid to upper 80s at race time and potentially windy. Would be tough even for him on conditions like that.
In the Mike Scannell interview, the DL final is “in negotiations” for 3k vs 5k. I assume this means Jakob is going to ask for one or the other. Now that he has the 3k WR he might be more interested in a 5k.
Though still unlikely a WR (he could easily get it fresh) if he doubles.
my post was clearly taken the wrong way. what i meant was that he can't just race non-stop for 3 weeks, after already having done the same during the olympics for 10 days. At some point, within all of these post olympic races, he needs to jump into an 8-10 day block of training to keep his base steady.
i would imagine that's why he isn't racing every single event possible.

He's shows up more than anyone else, last year as well, but he ended up injured as a result, and given his brothers history, injuries seem to run (sorry) in his family. So maybe he skips a race or two? He's only 23 though, his body should handle it. Don't know if the new spikes are better or worse for injury protection.
