Good summary Noah, thanks. Looks to me that the Ethiopian women will seriously dominate from 1500-5000 including steeple (Sembo Alemayo - 5th in Paris 9:00). Good to see the middle distances with strong and diverse contenders.

Cathal Dennehy for World Athletics made it sound like Myers might just do the 1500, but looks like they've taken away the 3000 heats and made it a strait final recently

When will officials begin using the MRI wrist test to eradicate the age cheats from Africa? It sure went a long way toward helping clean up junior soccer.

Just checked entries and there is no US team entered in the Mixed 4x4. What gives with this? Too many 400 athletes cancel going? US fail to get a qualifying entry as its so rarely run? US fail to enter or declare? Last one unfortunately the most likely.......

Abdisa Feyisa replaces Sewmehon Anteneh for Ethiopia in the men's 5000 tomorrow. Could very well win in - had a strong 5000 win at Kip Keino Classic early season before his 3:32 and Olympic 1500 appearance. Kipkirui could be favourite but I'm not sure if he's at his best considering his injuries this year

I don't doubt there are age cheats here. Kenya to their credit had all athletes competing at the trials bring their: Original birth certificate; original passport; student identification; national identification card (if applicable); release letter from school; parental consent. I still am dubious of some ages - like is a 16 year old really running 13:05 or 8:20SC?

No Quincy Wilson? And what about that South Sudanese/aussie sprinter Gout Gout?

Gout Gout is entered in the 200 where he's better (he was born in Aust by the way but is South Sudanese background as you said). Australia also has Sebastian Sultana in the 100, who has run 10.17 this year. Sultana hurt his hamstring while training for the Olympic 4 x 100, but is entered. With another sprinter (Della Rocca) having run 10.27, there is 3/4 of a good relay team.

Honestly don't know with the Serems. Possibility Edmund is a little akin to a Jakob vis a vis Filip/Henrik. Amos (now listed at 21) is clearly a big talent capable of winning medals, and still figuring things out. Edward though is waaaay ahead of him in terms of his trajectory as far as first results and progress.
The listed 16-year-old is interesting mostly last year he was losing to Sang in the double and now running that 13:05? Pretty massive jump. Hoping that Kipkirui and him have put together some good training together over the last month or so.

Della Rocca in the 100 and 200 and 4 x 100 for Australia, is born and bred American. His father has an Australian passport, but may not really be Australian either. A good pickup by the Aussies. He dropped nearly a second off his 100 time in a year.

Heard the entries had some sort of issue and the US is having to fight to be included in the mixed 4x4. World Athletics fears repeat of Paris where US won 34 medals and looking to stop US at every turn.

Are the 110s run at 39 inch or 42 inch?

100 is fantastic. 4 guys under 10.1, including two Asians. When is the last time you saw that?

It's too bad U20s happens so late in the year. The US's best prospects are either back in HS or starting their freshman/sophomore year of college. We would be unstoppable with Miller, Wilson, ect. I still think it was a mistake for Knighton to never run U20s while he was eligible.

Would be surprised if Myers doubles.

In fairness, you would expect a distance phenom to make a big jump from age 15 to 16. Also can’t tell a whole lot about his 5k-max from a championship double where he did run 3:38 in the 15.

That said, he does not look 15 in photos from last year, FWIW.

The 25-yr-old Africans really make a mockery out of the long distance events.

Hoping the Japanese and Americans have some success in middle distance.
