if these run clubs work as a pressure valve and make it easier to get into NYRR races I'd be overjoyed. And it's just a good wholesome thing.

Speaking of NYRR, LRC go write an article about how almost all NYRR races sell out 5 months in advance and how the lack of bibs is hurting the competitive clubs who can't get their people into races. The NYRR Club Championship as a highlight of American amateur racing is hurting!

I understand that Wall Street is in New York but why do "lifestyle" columns in every outlet just talk about something the writer saw in Manhattan or Los Angeles as if it could be universally applied?

Someone got paid to tell us finding common interests is a way to meet people.

I've had a relatively successful marriage for going on 17 years now. I attribute that in no small part to the fact I run and my wife doesn't.

This video starts off with a guy talking about his AirPods not working and walking to an apple store. WTF? Who watches this? Why film this?

Yeah, running and racing has never been more popular in Manattan and has made it very difficult to get into races. I attribute it to the 9+1 pathway into the NYCM. As you say, one needs to plan out their NYRR race schedule months in advance. I was told yesterday's 5th Ave Mile was sold out in just hours after reg opened. More than 8,800 people ran. (NYRR did give out non-comp entries to some clubs though).

Maybe in NYC, LA, Chicago... all the unattached women at a midsize city's running groups are out of shape, unattractive, on the wrong end of their youth or in middle age, and hopelessly obnoxious. In other words it's super obvious that they're single, as well why they're single. And if you're a younger unattached man they quickly end up all over you, so forget about talking to the rare attractive runner that periodically shows up.

These women end up being deterrents to joining these run clubs more than anything. There's certainly no useful singles meetups going on in them.

Them aside, most of the people at these clubs are simply unlikable in general, never mind whether or not they run at your pace or vice versa, or if they run too far or too little for your liking.

Why is everyone here single and live in their moms basement then?
