On top of just enjoying seeing the best compete, it's nice to have an actual frame of reference for discussions.
If Jakob had raced today without Hocker (or Nuguse or Kerr), I can only imagine how many people would be saying "his 3:27:83 is still just 4th place in the Olympics!" without any consideration to the different circumstances today. Having Hocker there today, we can actually compare the runners with much more perspective.

But we do know Hocker was nowhere near his Paris shape today though. So the only thing we can see is Jakob being able to hold onto his peak longer, which makes sense because he's by far the best at the 5k out of the four.
His tactics in a race without wavelight still remain to be seen. Or it would just be a repeat of 2022-2024 when championship final comes, and I'm saying this as a huge fan.

You guys have to stop thinking everyone is ducking after the big championship. Some seasons were structured for peaking then. Some athletes have planned these seasons out over a year ago.
