Belated congrats to a fine runner! Well deserved, couldn't happen to a nicer person.
One of the dirtiest finals ever. Karma wins, eventually
Good thing Jamal is clean otherwise Shannon would be a silver medalist <note sarcasm>.

Wow. 5 women have been disqualified for doping in that race (2 finished behind Rowbury). And then you also have Morgan Uceny, from the US, who didn't finish because she fell like she did in almost every big race of the era. They should call falling in a race "a Uceny."
Why it took 12 years to knock Tomashova out is crazy.
She should never have been in the race since she was part of the switching urine conspiracy, getting only a 2-year ban when she should have received a life time ban. A "surprise" test that wasn't, she and others happen to have catheter with someone else's urine packed up there.
Also pretty infuriating that they didn't decide this before the Olympics.
They had a medal ceremony for Abeba Aregawi to move her up to bronze like two weeks ago at the Eiffel Tower. Seemed like an appropriate place to correct this. Now she is the silver medalist and where will they do this for Shannon? With a FedEx box?
Adam Nelson (2004 SP) got his gold medal in a food court at the Atlanta airport.
Mark my words, Jakob will be getting his 1500m Paris gold mailed to him in a decade or so.
who cares, twelve years later, retests... you dont see it in other sports...
mickey mouse bronze medal (bronze is already a mickey mouse medal but anyway)
Happy for Rowbury.
Somewhat sad to see Gabe Grunewald in that picture. A life too short.
Agree, Gabe was great.
Tim C will get getting his gold from 2021 🙌🏾
Still shocking how dirty that final was. I'm sure Rowbury always believed she was a true medalist. And then 4th in Rio, or even another 3rd depending on what you believe about Dibaba. Would suck even more to miss out on the literal Olympic podium twice thanks to dopers.
They did a ceremony at Drake Stadium in 2013 during USATF.

What do you think the actual chances were that Jamal was clean? 10%? 0%? I would seriously be more inclined to the latter.
There literally hasn’t been a clean E African runner since 1986. Not even arguable.
This was the better thread about Rowbury then some tool started another, inferior, thread.
Just so we’re clear, we’re talking about the same Shannon Rowbury that was stuck at the same level for about 5 years after graduating. (Couldn’t breaking 4:00 or 15:00 while with her old coach John Cook)
The same Shannon Rowbury that joined the Nike Oregon Project and within 2-3 years set a then American record in the 1500 of 3:56 and ran 14:38 for 5000. (I don’t have to explain what happened to the Nike Oregon Project do I?) She ran the 3:56 just 2 months shy of her 31st birthday and broke a record held by convicted doper Mary Slaney. (Fittingly, also a former pupil of her coach).
Let’s also keep in mind she ran these times years before the current super spikes were out. So that’s not even a factor in her progression between 2013-2016.
to the gills
When do I get a medal?
Why the hell did it take 3 years after she tested positive for this to come out?
Russia is a disgusting country. The world needs to stop playing with kid gloves and put Russia in its place. Ukraine is showing the paper tiger for what it is. Sporting organizations need to put the ban hammer down and get Russian athletes out of competitions for at least a generation.
