Grand Slam Track Miami

The Miami meet came to an end and the following race winners all picked up $100k for series wins as well - Kenny Bednarek 19.84 (+0.2), Grant Fisher 13:40.32, Alison Dos Santos 44.53, Trey Cunningham 10.17,  SML (49.69) and Marileidy Paulino 22.30. In the women's 800, Mary Moraa won in 1:59.51 but didn't win the series as was the case in the 3k where Hirut Meshesha won in 8:22.72.

    The time is second fastest collegiate 1500m ever. In the women's 5000m, Grace Hartman ran a solo effort 14:58.11 (#4 on the NCAA all-time list). *Results

    Grand Slam Track #2 (Miami)

    In the mid-d events, Marco Arop won the 800 in 1:43.69 and Josh Kerr has never been more thrilled to finish 5th and win $100k. Freweyni Hailu won the 1500 in 4:06.96. In the sprints, Kenny Bednarek won the 100m in a windy 9.79 (+2.4), Jacory Patterson ran a world-leading 43.98 to win the 400m out of lane 8, Trey Cunningham won the 110h in 13.00, Gabby Thomas won the 200 in 21.95 (+1.1) and SML won the 400h in 52.07. Updated with race videos.

    Shanghai Diamond League

    Tinch was sensational. In mid-d and distance action, Aregawi (12:50.45) won the 5000,  Abrham Sime won the steeple in 8:07.92, and Tsige Duguma won the women's 800 in 1:56.64 as Australia's Sarah Billings shocked with a 1:57.83. Akani Simbine came from behind to edge Kishane Thompson in the 100, 9.98 to 9.99. Other winners included  Mondo (6.11), Warholm (47.28) & Chris Bailey (44.17).

    Russell's 12.17 moves her to #2 on the world all-time list while runner-up Tia Jones (12.19) is now #3. Ireland's Andrew Coscoran took down Grant Fisher in a tactical 3,000, 8:17.56 to 8:17.60. *Results & Race Videos

    Fred Kerley Drama At GST

    Johnson, a 2024 Olympian in the 100m hurdles, told Broward County police that Kerley struck her in the face, causing her nose to bleed. Kerley's girlfriend says that's not what happened. She sayd Johnson's girlfriend actually hit Johnson when fighting with Kerley.

    Cole Hocker, Yared Nuguse, and Josh Kerr all return to action in Miramar, while Jamaican star Kishane Thompson will race his first 100m of 2025 in China. And distance rivals Grant Fisher and Berihu Aregawi will both be racing the 5000 -  unfortunately, in opposite sides of the world. 

    Why Did They Skip GST?

    GST's doubling requirement proved to be an issue for Hall, who has not raced a 200m since 2016, so he has withdrawn from the series and will race in the Diamond League this summer instead.

      Sawe broke the race open with an unofficial 4:16 for his 20th mile (13:56 from 30-35k), while Jacob Kiplimo finished 2nd in his debut in 2:03:37. Eliud Kipchoge was 6th in 2:05:25.

          Despite going 66:40-69:10, Assefa took down the Olympic champ and picked it up late to win a cool $305,000. Joyciline Jepkosgei was 2nd in 2:18:44 with Sifan Hassan, who dropped off just before halfway, 3rd in 2:19:00.

          After San Diego was dropped, it was impossible to find a replacement on such short notice. The 2026 edition in Copenhagen looks like it will be a banger though with up to 65,000 competitors in the mass participation races.

          We Sit Down With Marco Langon

          Villanova's 3:33/13:14 man Marco Langon GRABBED our attention at NCAA Indoors when he boldly went for broke and grabbed the lead with a km to go and held it until the bell before fading to 6th. Then he gave an all-time EPIC post-race interview. He also has grabbed the attention of Diadora as he's the 1st track athlete to sign an NIL Deal with the Italian brand whose US headquarters are in Philly.

          Mantz took almost three minutes off his pb and just missed the podium, finishing four seconds back of second place. Among Americans, only Ryan Hall (2:04:58) has run a faster marathon than Mantz did in Boston on Monday.

          Lokedi turned the tables on Obiri after losing four straight and picked up a cool $200k in the process as the top 3 all broke the old course record of 2:19:59.

          Taylor Roe broke 15:00 for the 1st time in her career today, racing in the shoes for the 1st time. 5k man Amon Kemboi also loved them. "You kind of feel the bounce only," Kemboi said. "So even though you are tired, you feel just the drive it gives you when your legs are tired."

          Grand Slam Track took a big swing at its launch. It definitely didn't hit a home run, but the Diamond League and Athlos should be paying attention.

          The Olympic bronze medallist only broke 70m for the first time 4 days ago and now he's got six throws in a row over 70, all coming at all coming at Throws Town.in Oklahoma - at the same site where the WR was set.
