Thoughts with Lammy G. incredibly unfortunate and undoubtably frustrating. Concussions are no joke. I had a teammate get one and it derailed an entire outdoor season, had to come back slowly during XC the next year.
Hopefully his brother’s success is lifting his spirits. Steeplechase is certainly better with him in the mix. Also hoping Amos Serem is healthy because he’s another guy that makes the event better.
It will be great to see him race again. I am sure he can get back to his old form. Not sure about the timeline though.
I work with someone who had two concussions in the same year and he is not the same as he was before. A shot like that can change things for sure. Time is the best cure, they say.
As you can see rooks is well clear of Girma at the steeple. Perhaps you mean that seeing rooks ahead of him made him take the steeple too agressively?
Rooks is fully clear of the barrier in lane one when Girma falls. Girma is hurdling simultaneously with Kibiwot and El Bakkali. Kibiwot is directly behind Rooks in lane one, Girma is in lane two, and El Bakkali in lane three. I don’t see any contact between Girma and another athlete before he hits the barrier.
It was caused by his push between El Bakali and the Kenyan at the last hurdle before the water jump. I am really sorry to hear that he is still experiencing symptoms of the fall so many months later.
Thankfully the medical world takes concussions much more seriously today. When I was growing up, if you "saw stars" you were just supposed to shake it off. All our coaches take a mandatory concussion training class at the start of the season, even for xc.
