You have to admit, it’s pretty smart.

Ducking the best competition isn’t masterful. It’s just ducking. We all see through it.

You spelled *ucking wrong.

I bet Jingy took up eating popcorn, and maybe even smoking, as he watches/follows this.

More likely Xanax to treat his anxiety about racing Wanyonyi. 😬 😢 💊

Wanyoni will be fried by July.

Did he look like he was running all out today? You can’t be fried if you’re not pushing yourself hard.

Jakob would never let this race become >3:30. Wanyonyi is in for new pain when Jingy dictates the pace

If Jakob tried that in those hot and windy conditions in Jamaica, then instead of finishing 4th like at last year’s Olympics, he’d finish 5th.

Well, is the DL in Jamaica or is it somewhere with a full stadium and a history of great track and field performances?

i get your bias and think jamaica was a bad choice but that stadium has plenty of good history in the sprints…

Forget the DL and its princess time trials. The real men do real racing in GST.
Overconfidence is in fact Jakobs problem in thinking he can frontrun to victory, so I’m not so sure of this thesis

You also have to be a real man to go after the 3:26.00 world record that has stood since 1998.
The glazing of that man on this website is insanity!

Where was everyone else during World Indoors?
Jakob is bright. He knew GST would be sloppy and sparsely attended, and that it would favor the rare 800/1500 type while others struggled. He is laughing along with Wanyonyi, while polishing those two indoor golds.

Or self-delusional to think he can break it!
Luck Josh ducks world indoors?
Wind wasn't terrible by the men's 1500. Listed as -1.6. Not perfect. Not horrible
Wind may matter, heat certainly not. Jakob has had some of his best runs ever in similar heat.
While I think Jakob didn’t do GST for different reasons, one benefit is seeing the strengths and weaknesses of his competitors in a variety of races.
My guess is he would have won yesterday, but of course we have no idea. But these guys will be in a completely different place in September.
