Theres no reason why this meet should be longer than 2hrs. Trying to make it popular for the general public is not 8 events in 3hrs.
Look at the race schedule posted above. The meet IS under 2 hrs. The broadcast just starts with a preview show. You can skip that part if you don't want to watch it.
This is the thread for today. The meet is earlier today. 3-6pm eastern for TV (WB network/peacock) 1st race 3:42 pm eastern.
Every event today is a concluding event so the $100k will be determined in all the events today.
So for me personally, I'm interested in the mens 800 and 3000m races and that's it. I'm interested in how Kerr, Nuguse and Hocker compare over 800m vs 3 absolute studs and one very good guy over the two laps, and to see how hard they compete. In the 3000m I'm interested because it's a great distance to watch a few top guys race over. I have no doubt these two races will be great entertainment and great racing.
The rest of todays events really aren't compelling or interesting enough to watch - even on a free broadcast. Congrats to the athletes who will win "100k" but that doesn't really connect with me on any level. Hey, at least I'm being honest.

Then why not call the first 30 minutes a pregame show? If I see a baseball game in the guide, imma tune in and expect to see baseball in not more than 10 minutes - no need to wait 42 minutes

Can’t wait for Wanyonyi’s blood bath today
looks like it. Wanyoni called the 1500 slow, and had something in the tank at the finish.
and the other 800 guys ran down the track
so
the 800 guys should bring their game
and
the 1500 specialists have 5k strength so their hard 700m isn't going to hurt the legs
looks like it will be a fair test of ability, and no shame to not deliver, there is every excuse you need, early season, training through a bit, a race the day before,

Going to have to agree with this. No Lyles or Tebogo so the 100/200m aren’t compelling. Sydney is against the wrong runners so that isn’t compelling either. No Warholm or Rai in hurdles. Womens 5000m has B list runners. I think the womens 100m is compelling with the best 110 hurdlers even though it is no different than a diamond league. Overall, the spirit of this League is failing

Football pregame shows are often an hour, but you're right. They're called pregame shows.
I just don't understand people who are supposedly track fans complaining about a track meet getting too much time on tv. I'm enjoying every minute.
These 100m times aren’t great lol. They really are 100m hurdle specialists.
The most interesting thing to me is the wide range of times. These ladies are often tightly bunched in the hurdles. That shows how important technique is for the hurdles.

I'm laughing at any downvotes to my original post because those people are kidding themselves. I mean look at this thread already - all the engagement is on what Wanyoni might do in the 800!
It's exactly what you said here - other than the excellent 800m and the solid 3000m, what really is going on? Sydney is going to come out, look miserable and win an easy 100k - the format is already exposed because how cool would it have been to see her vs Thomas, Paulino and Naser fighting for the money - this actually would have been really interesting but we don't get it. Seriously someone tell me what other event today is good and why? I'll definitely be tuning in for those 20min of the 8/3000 but that's it.
Can we all just admit that following who wins the slam is extremely difficult for fans and their presentation of who "wins the slam" is absolutely awful on tv? It's extremely hard to know who wins and they do a terrible job with the graphics.
As I said yesterday, ater the race is over, on tv put the winner of the race up first with their time and their total points. Then do 2nd, 3rd, etc. When they are all up, turn the one witht he most points to green and put a bag of cash next to their names.
Another suggestion. They should highlight or circle teh winner of the first race as they are in the blocks. You know how on Amazon prime it will highlight a certain player right before the snap. Let everyone know who to focus on.
