- Dwight Stone: I just can’t.
- ”Michael Johnson’s” League: I just can’t.
- Forced enthusiasm: I just can’t.
- Grant Fisher verse B-Tier guys: I just can’t.
- 3-man 1500 races: I did, but don’t care anymore.
- et al…
The stupid point system and prize money structure does not work. I also won't be watching these 'new' meets. Track fans want fast times. Not warm up jog for 5 laps followed by 2.5 laps of racing.
I'm trying to give it a chance.
Just turned on- MJ droning on and on and on, again. Getting tired of it.
Too much filler, almost no action.
Watched Diamond League earlier, interesting for 2 hours straight. And they also have "the fastest" it seems....

The GST women’s 5,000m last night was won in a faster time than the women’s 5,000m at the Xiamen Diamond League.
The American record was broken in last night’s women’s 100m hurdles.
You’re missing out.
there's no insentive for athletes to go for PR's or world records. everything is based off wins. so stop complaining about all these sit and kicks. especially Grant. he's just playing by the rules they set up. why kill himself when he doesn't have to.
an easy fix that might work - offer a million dollar bonus for any World Record and a $100K bonus for a PR.
I like watching the Diamond League more than GST.

The series sucks. Extremely hard to watch and throwing away money.
Probably be ok to be in attendance and watch but the tv presentation is really uninteresting. Panning the crowd is trigger for channel surfing. Poor camera work/angles during races isnt helpful. Crams' announcing is putti g the others to shame so he's saving it a bit in that regard. There's just no tv substitute. The stands are full being a small stadium so thats good.
Ok, Id probably sit far away from the stupid people with the vuvuzelas. Between that and Ozzy Osborne overhead....
This is like a tech startup, next year (provided they have funding) they'll change things, experiment and get it right or die.
Enjoy while you can
Yo dawg. I feel you. I was able to smoke a whole blunt in between races. Lotta sizzle, but not lotta steak.
What gets me is Centro is just not there and they didn’t mention anything about it. And replaced with Cheeky Chavez—no comment. . .
The meets are too long and three days is one day too many. But the actual races are not bad. I like that we are seeing something "new" and different. Honestly, watching them run 8:17 for 3000m is not "worse" than watching them run 7:45. So unless the race is a world record attempt, then all I care about is the tactical battle.
Be honest, do you really think a line of dudes strung out (behind a rabbit) running 3:31 is better than an insane battle over the last lap with a time of 3:34? I mean, if it is not a record (or very close), then the time isn't really "fast" by Letsrun standards anyway.
p.s. I want to thank you for the typo in your thread title. I think messing up the title of the thread is one of the "secret memes" of Letsrun. It works best when criticizing others because the typo reveals that nobody is perfect. :)

Yes. Is he gone for good? I thought he did a good job.
Narrative: GST is real racing, DL is boring time trials
Reality: GST distance races are complete jog fests, DL regularly has 3:2x and 12:4x races that come down to the final 200 meters
It's good to have another league but they need to rework the rewards structure. Believe it or not, times do actually mean something in this sport.

Idk I’m having fun watching more track on tv. It’s not perfect but it’s def entertaining

Such a disingenuous post, all of these problems would have existed regardless of this being GST or a random pro circuit race in the US.
#2 is nonsense and clearly just hate and nothing else.
GST is an experiment and so far the product has only gotten better. They should've known that US women's/men's distance runners (apart from Fischer) don't belong in elite fields, but otherwise their isn't much to complain about (maybe consolidate hurdles into 110/300m).
This website full of such bitter losers man.

I'm sure the women's high jump and men's pole vault (you knew the winner before the event started) were so exhilarating. Get a grip.
In a parallel world GST would be the long term player and a former athlete would say 'hey, this isn't a great way to do athletics'. They'd then go and set up something a lot better and it would look like the Diamond League.
Watching the two meets this weekend really brought it home. Even a relatively poor DL in China was streets ahead in terms of watchable product. It's going to be annoying when the presence of GST starts to dilute DL fields though.
