Yeah I lost all respect for those runners. Not that I had much. As professionals I would have hoped they inspire other runners - not intentionally run a time that a random guy on the street could do.

Well...a hobbyjogger can't close a slow 5K in 51.xx, I can tell you that much.
Sort of like the 2019 NCAA 5000 in the heat & humidity of Austin where everyone jogged until the last couple laps when Morgan closed in 52-point ahead of Grant's 53-point.
Man, has Grant become a lethal closer.
Probably could have gone a few tenths faster if not boxed going around the final lap's first curve. Couldn't break free and fully stride out until 300 to go.
Since Sunday's 3000 will be run under the sun in warmer conditions, don't think anyone will try to change up tactics and front-run. However, am expecting one or more to try a long push from 1000-800 to go to see if that will work again Grant & Cooper.
He’s at home right now laughing at watching these idiots make fools of themselves and wasting their fitness at this mickey mouse meet while he plans to destroy them all this summer. He’s gotta be loving it!

What’s funny though is this reveals Grant to be a liar. He told Letsrun just yesterday that he expected the pace to be honest. You could tell that he was lying right through his teeth. He answers questions like a politician.
Yup. GST is a joke. This is the beginning of the end.
For the first time I'm going to join with the boo-birds. I will not watch any of those "events" , and to tell you the truth I hope the whole damn thing fails. Its officially a clown show.
The sport doesn't need mixed relays, 3-legged burlap bag races, 300m hurdles and GST. Just promote and put on spectacular track meets! Is that really too hard to do?

Morgan?? Is that the fella that does podcasts and is never up the front in any important races?
It’s just now occurred to me, if the race is not a world record, does the time even matter? Anything slower than a record would be tactical based on the loose binary we insist on using to describe this little game of ours no?
What would have been different about a 13:15-14:00 minute race? I don’t mind getting to watch my old event for 2 minutes longer than usual, I like the sport. And anyway, if Grant can win this way, is there a way he couldn’t otherwise win. We get to see some very interesting scenarios that the sport doesn’t usually afford - like what if the best in the world had to go back and run their conference meet. Cool!
But I digress. Me and the boys are heading to upton tomorrow to heckle the young guys about being slower than us!! Haha
