Sasha Zhoya ran two personal bests in the 110H and 100m, but that STILL wasn’t enough to take down a red-hot Trey Cunningham, as Zhoya hangs onto second by one point over Jamal Britt and the Challenger Cunningham wins the title. pic.twitter.com/m4aiElcDTY
Wow! Holloway ran 10.22 in 2022 as his PR. Cunningham's was 10.64 until today. How didn't he make the team last year?
What's your point? Whether someone can run 10.0 or 10.2 is irrelevant. Holloways problem in the hurdle appears to be that he's too fast and gets up on the hurdles late in the race.
If it was pure speed, they'd run 11 seconds for 110. Instead, they rarely break 13.00. The key is rhythm not speed.

Nah, that's not Holloway's problem. His problem is speed management. He blasts the first 60M as if he's running the 60MH. By the time he gets to 90M, he's out of gas and the field closes on him.
Grant Holloway has plenty of speed and speed endurance. He split sub-44 in college, as well as running 6.50. He would be a threat in the decathlon if he worked at pole vault and field event technique. It's actually been a blow to t&f that he's been a single event guy in the pros, because he'd be a much bigger star with the other events. Cunningham is a surprise because while he always showed this kind of hurdles ability from high school on, he had a down year last year, and I did not know he had this kind of flat speed.
Pay attention. Somebody questioned how Cunningham didn't make the team last year. His best was 13.13. Tinch didn't make the team even though he is better than Cunningham.
For the first time in years, Holloway is not currently the favorite in the 110m hurdles. He's lost badly his last two races—2nd at Tom Jones and 10th at Xiamen—plus Cordell Tinch just ran 12.87, by far the earliest such a time has ever been run (I don't believe anyone has broken 13.00 before June). I have confidence he'll turn it around, but he's looking super super vulnerable at the moment.

This. A 8.2m long jumper, 2.16 high jumper as a 16 year old, fast flat 400 runner… he was unbelievable in college, one of the best ever all-arounders.
