Grand Slam Track is supposed to be “only the fastest” so what is the point of these short hurdlers running the 100m dash putting up times that wouldn’t medal at Texas State Champs?

It’s the hurdle pool dude…casual sports fans don’t think much of 10.17 vs. 9.90… the format is more interesting than the single diamond league turn and burn.

And none of those Texas hs sprinters could break 16 sec for the hurdles either.

By your logic, the Texas State Champs race was roughly on a par with the most recent Diamond League 100m (Shanghai/Keqiao), except with a higher quality winner:
Men’s 100 Metres Final, Wind: +0.5 PlaceNameBirth DateMark1. Akani SIMBINE 21 SEP 1993 RSA 9.98 2. Kishane THOMPSON 17 JUL 2001 JAM 9.99 3. Letsile TEBOGO 07 JUN 2003 BOT 10.03 4. Emmanuel ESEME 17 AUG 1993 CMR 10.07 5. Christian COLEMAN 06 MAR 1996 USA 10.13 6. Rohan WATSON 29 APR 2002 JAM 10.18 7. Jeremiah AZU 15 MAY 2001 GBR 10.19 8. Zhenye XIE 17 AUG 1993 CHN 10.23 9. Ferdinand OMANYALA 02 JAN 1996 KEN 10.25
Who can give me three hurdlers who ran leadoff on a world record 4x1?
Assuming it's not necessarily a hurdler of the winning team in the race, Colin Jackson, lead off for GBR when the US equalled the WR of 37.40 (led off by Jon Drummond) in the semi-final in Stuttgart, 1993.

Did you know that's he's a hurdler? Lol
Are you really this dumb or do you just choose to appear dumb?
Don't know why everyone's so angry. He's right. 10.17 wouldnt medal at the Texas State championships.
I am shocked that this post got so much hate. I don't expect a hurdler to run world class 100 times. So then the question is - why are they racing a 100m in the Grand Slam Track meet?

you’re missing the point.
Are any of them competing in a meet that brands itself as "only the fastest"?

Is the meet for casual sport fans or track fans? Legit question - I can guarantee that not a single on of my coworkers who are non-runners tuned in. Even the casual runners have never heard of it.

Pretty sure his 13.00 in the 110 hurdles would have done well in that meet
