Sounds like this was the end of Roe's road season and that she'll take a bit of time to reset and focus on the track this summer. Her time of 14:57 today was her first time under 15:00 on the roads or track.
Roe also beat Tsigie Gebreselama and Lemlem Hailu today, two strong Ethiopians, though neither were at their best as neither broke 15:00.

Happy to hear she’s about to take some down time. When I saw she raced this too, I got a little concerned. She’s done quite a bit of racing recently. Really quite remarkable what she has been able to do on the road vs her times on the track. I’m hoping these results give her confidence and helps to translate into track times, but she might just be better suited for the roads.
Maybe it turned out tactical? Maybe she has a speed governor? Maybe her shoes (and form) are most efficient at a certain pace? Maybe…maybe…
It was somewhat tactical 4:48/4:55/4:42 for the mile splits. I’d tend to agree that given her 10-mile prowess the time is far from crazy but just another strong one and a podium. She didn’t have her best day at the Ten but I suspect she’ll be right there at Trials.

The big concern for track trials for her…is she doing better on the roads because of the Puma road shoes giving a little extra help? Was her performance at the Ten because she doesn’t get quite the same boost from the spikes?

Not really hilly besides the Mass Ave dip that's part of the marathon (2x on this course). It looks like it was just a tactical race, with a group of ~8 after 1 mile, ~4 after 2 miles, and ~3 at 3 miles. She was leading at mile 3 according to the splits, just got out kicked even while running ~32s for the last .12 (the winner closed in ~28s)

It's not the shoes. Her first time racing in the new Puma shoes (Fast-R 3s) was today. She didn't use them in Atlanta or Cherry Blossom.

Didn’t she use the Deviate Nitro Elite 3’s (in the purple) for Cherry Blossom? Did you ask anything about her shoes, like why the change-up, which she prefers, which seems faster, etc.?

Well in your own interview today she said the previous shoes were also excellent.
Regardless of the specific new shoe today, it remains to be seen whether she will respond as well to the spikes as the road shoes. (This applies to all runners, but for those that seem to overperform on the roads, it could be a significant factor)

Not totally dismissing this but even Agnes Ngetich who you might consider a super-responder showed she’s pretty legit at GST destroying everyone but Taye despite having/choosing to do all the work.

I think Ngetich being nearly 2 minutes faster than the competition over 10k makes that comparison a little bit different.
