I don’t think there’ll be an 800 this year, and that’s good because it sets up a great mile with Hoey, Kessler and Wanyonyi.

Any more confirmed names? Race is in about 63 hours. Does this race even have an official website or just the YouTube live stream link?

Good! A road 800m would be silly. Also Wanyonyi vs Kessler is gonna be awesome! Gotta favor Wanyonyi, but who knows.

Pretty much every Adidas athlete will be there. Nico Young, Katelyn Tuohy, and Yomif Kejelcha are some others I know of.

Not even close. Of the 23 American adidas athletes below, only 9 (*) ran last year. Paul Ryan (mile) is a confirmation in addition to those listed in the first post.

Finally. I don't know how a race of this calibre doesn't have a website. Nothing on the Adidas website, either.

8 of 10 Americans in the mile including all 6 men. I think the US could win both but I feel it will probably be Wanyonyi and Chepchirchir, with Kessler and Wiley in runner-up spots like last year. It will be interesting to see how Hoey does in a mile, especially against Hoppel.

Times won't be especially fast due to the course.

Some interesting dark horse guys:

Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech (mile), Daniel Kimaiyo (5,000) are big talents as far as young Kenyans. Alamisi and Josphat Kipkirui too, though both have been running unimpressively.

Eisa, Krop will be interesting to see where they’re at.

Any relation to the Kenyan 400m hurdler Daniel Kimaiyo? Based on age, possibly a grandson?

Kessler is good but Wanyonyi will win.

I doubt it only because when he was a junior he got some press and I don’t remember it being brought up

I love this event. Last year, in one of the races, Kejelcha looked the wrong way like Landy v Bannister and lost the finish. Another finish where I thought the wrong woman was adjudged winner was another memory of mine.

Projected maximal mile times of the main four contenders in it:

Kessler: 3:46

Wanyonyi: 3:46-8**

Nico: 3:49 (He ran 3:50 indoors and then 12:51, I think a 3:49 is sensible)

Hoey: 3:49-51**

Race format suggests Kessler and Young push it hard from 400-600m out to try to drop Hoey/Wanyonyi. On a faster course I'd say a World Record would definitely be in the cards, but the turns here are always brought up so we'll see.
