Once again, the men's 800 & 1500 will be must-watch tv as two of the hottest Americans from the 2025 indoor season - Josh Hoey and Hobbs Kessler - take on the big boys at Franklin Field. Plus Addy Wiley, Nia Akins, Georgia Hunter Bell, Christian Coleman, Christian Miller, Nico Young, and Graham Blanks make the GST debuts.

Cole Hocker has never raced at Franklin Field before but he will this weekend and the Philly Inquirer gives him a feature Hocker had clearly watched a lot of Oregon Penn Relays videos on youtube.

    Jonah Koech wasn't even supposed to be in Sunday's 1500. As they approached the bell, he was in 13th out of 17. A lap later, he was the champion. He is just the third American man to win a Diamond League 1500/mile and the first runner sponsored by Under Armour to win a DL race. His 3:37.27 pre-race pb is also the slowest of any man to win a DL 1500/mile.

    Joshua Cheptegei set his 12:35.36 WR at the Monaco DL in 2020 and Gebrhiwet sits #2 on the all-time list after he missed it by just over a second at Oslo last year with 12:36.73.

    Mantz was 12 seconds back with a mile to go, but surged and caught Ebenyo with less than 100m to go, beating him by 2 seconds. USA Red won the men's team title.

    She broke the previous record of 32:13 from 1995 and won handily over Ethiopia's Meseret Belete (32:42). Aubrey Frentheway was the top American in 4th (32:49). Ethipia won the women's team competition, beating Kenya by one point.

    2021 Olympic 800m Champion Athing Mu returned to racing a competitive field with a 4:10.70 2nd place finish in the 3rd heat of the 1500,  former World Champion Jake Wightman got a nice win in the 1500 in 3:35, Olympic silver medallist Kenneth Rooks cruised to an 8:14 win, Oregon's Klaudia Kazimierska won the 1500 (4:03) over Emily Mackay, as Linden Hall (14:43) and Eduardo Herrera (12:58) got dominant 5000m wins with Herrera going sub 13:00 for the first time and taking down Arturo Barrios' Mexican outdoor record of 13:07.

    Road/Trail Results

    Korir beat out Canada's Rory Linkletter (2:08:31) and US's CJ Albertson (2:08:55). 2022 NCAA 10,000m Chelangat was making her debut and won the women's race by almost five minutes.

    Two High School Sub-4s

    Hansen won in 3:59.02 to Coombs' 3:59.23. The top-8 all broke 4:05. The girls' mile was won in 4:43 by Kinley Wolfe.

    Ottawa Marathon Previews

    Linkletter and Albertson will be doubling back five weeks after 6th and 14th place finishes in Boston, respectively. Both say they bounced back well after Boston and are hoping to contend for the win in Ottawa.

    NYC GP Cancelled

    The USATF LA Grand Prix and USATF Bermuda Games were also cancelled this year. Grand Slam Track is the new big kid on the block in N. America.

    The biggest result came in the men's javelin where 2021 Olympic champ Neeraj Chopra became the 25th man to break 90m (90.23) but lost as Julian Weber went 91.06 in round 6. In other events, Botswana's 3:30 man Tshepiso Masalela edged Bryce Hoppel in the 800 with a 1:43.11 WL, bronze medalist Faith Cherotich (9:05.08 WL) turned the tables on the Olympic gold and silver medalists in a great women's steeple, and Tia Clayton (10.92 WL, +2.0) spoiled SAFP's DL season debut in the 100. *WA Recap *YouTube reaction show

      • Prosecutors Want Two-And-A-Half Years Prison Sentence For Jakob Ingebrigtsen's Father The trial is scheduled to end on Thursday. The prosecutors and defense are telling wildly different stories. Prosecutors: "The starting point in these cases is unconditional imprisonment.” The defense is arguing for an acquittal. "We have heard an extremely large number of witnesses. We cannot see that there have been any witnesses who have substantiated from the outside that there has been fear among the children, something the court must find evidence of in order to convict for a so‑called regime of abuse."

      Clinger ran 1:12:17 (breaking the American record by 52 seconds) to Klecker's 1:12:31 and Bor's 1:12:53. Carrie Ellwood won the women's race by over a minute in 1:22:27, also setting an American record.

        Murphy, who turned 30 in February, ran his 1:42.93 pb on the biggest stage of all - the Rio Olympics. He made a very nice retirement video which you can watch above.

        Doping News

        In January of 2021, the former world champ told a drug tester he needed to go get his passport in his car and then he sped off. His ban wasn't formally confirmed by CAS until February of this year. The AIU lists his ban as having ended in February but WADA tells us Aman could have technically competed during the last 4 years so his ban still got 3+ years to go even though the AIU database says it ended in February.

          Girma Update

          "He’s still feeling parts of the concussion coming to him when he reaches certain high speeds and levels," said Girma's agent Hussein Makke. "...He’s not normal yet. He’s able to train and he’s put in good workout sessions, but at such a point, a combination of intensity and other things, he feels some dizziness and some things...He's planning to come back and run his race when he’s close to 100%."

          Fred Kerley Drama At GST

          Johnson, a 2024 Olympian in the 100m hurdles, told Broward County police that Kerley struck her in the face, causing her nose to bleed. Kerley's girlfriend says that's not what happened. She sayd Johnson's girlfriend actually hit Johnson when fighting with Kerley.

          Why Did They Skip GST?

          GST's doubling requirement proved to be an issue for Hall, who has not raced a 200m since 2016, so he has withdrawn from the series and will race in the Diamond League this summer instead.

          Valby Update

          "She is on the mend,"said Parker's father and agent, Kyle. "I don’t want to get into [the specifics of the injury] at this point, but she is in good shape...I’ll be able to share more [about racing plans] in the future, we’re just waiting on a few things relative to her health. She’s in a good spot mentally."

          Kipyegon opens her season in Xiamen with nearly a WR But...

          On Wednesday, Nike announced that Kenya's Faith Kipyegon will attempt to break four minutes in the mile on June 26 in Paris. Spoiler alert. She's not going to break 4. And it's not going to be particularly close. Did you know the 1k time she ran on Saturday where she just nearly broke the WR is still below sub-4 mile pace?

          Taylor Roe broke 15:00 for the 1st time in her career today, racing in the shoes for the 1st time. 5k man Amon Kemboi also loved them. "You kind of feel the bounce only," Kemboi said. "So even though you are tired, you feel just the drive it gives you when your legs are tired."

          Grand Slam Track took a big swing at its launch. It definitely didn't hit a home run, but the Diamond League and Athlos should be paying attention.

          The Olympic bronze medallist only broke 70m for the first time 4 days ago and now he's got six throws in a row over 70, all coming at all coming at Throws Town.in Oklahoma - at the same site where the WR was set.
