They were originally supposed to hold qualifiers in late 2024, but I guess that passed. Per Wikipedia, they have announced some Olympic swimmers and bobsledders as part of their leadership but no track athletes yet. Seems like on May 21 they will announce "introduction of new athletes" and the venues.

They've delayed this for a while, changing the dates and failing to provide a concrete one. Perhaps it's a ponzi scheme to lure in money then run off because they'll take a loss if it does end up running. Can't be too many "top" athletes committing anyways. Yes, the "natty" games are more of a circus and more doped/raided up anyways.

Depends on how much they can bankroll it. You don’t think some 10.1 young guys would give it a go? Or some 3:57 milers in their late 20s?
It would be interesting to see if a 10.1 guy or a 3:57 guy can get very close to world records with PEDs.
Ok, so this happened today and I watched the live stream so you don't have to. The event is happening May 2026 in Las Vegas, and they have only weightlifting, swimming, and athletics. The only track-specific things they mentioned are that they're building a six-lane track at the venue to host, and that they're offering a $1,000,000 prize for anyone who breaks the 100 metres world record, and $250,000 for any other world record. They're also offering appearance fees like GST and said they would have only around 100 athletes at their first event across all three sports -- this means they would have to be slimming down track a lot, probably only three or four events and not clear if field or distance will be included.
(P.S. as for men's or women's world record, it's unclear to me and the owners seemed to imply but not outright state on Rogan that they would only be having one gender division with the idea that drugs would even out the differences?)
The only athlete displayed was this swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev, who has a best Olympic finish of 5th but he won a silver medal at 2019 swimming worlds. He's 31 now so not washed, and they showed a video of him doped up breaking the 50m freestyle world record by two hundredths of a second. It was a private venue and I'm sure there will be questions about the timing, but I can treat it sort of like the Breaking2 record.

One other thing: I don't remember this mentioned in the video, but their email lists these events:
Swimming: 50m & 100m Freestyle, 50m & 100m Butterfly Athletics: 100m Sprint, 100m/110m Hurdles, "Sprint showcase" Strength: SnatchClean & Jerk
So the fact that they list 100m and 110m hurdles indicates they'll be having both men's and women's races. They also say that winners of each event will win $500K on top of any world record bonuses with additional prize money going down the ranks. Not looking like distance or field will be included.

Unfortunate there will be no distance events. I'm very curious what someone going openly to the gills could do in the 800/mile/5k. Also, I feel like it will be significantly easier to drop time in distance events than in sprint events. No clue why they added hurdles, which is 90% technique when you get to the 42s.
