Then a few minutes later Witt of Princeton wins the men's 1500 and then KEEPS RUNNING and takes a full victory lap around the track LMFAO.

Wow this was a huge choke from the Princeton runner. This will be on early celebration fail videos for decades.

Princeton won the meet by 84.5 points. Think they're going to sleep just fine.

The Princeton SC racers were freshmen twins. They didn't know any better. Cornell runner was a senior racing his last Heps.
But in the long run, it didn't even matter. No other team could match Princeton's depth.

Just Freshmen !??! I learned to run through the line as a freshman in HIGH SCHOOL.

Maybe they are FAST learners and have picked up the Princeton bravado early! (like Witt's Victory lap)

1) OPs post didn't age well.

2) I talked to Vig today for the first time all spring. What's wild is the kid who finished 2nd in the steeple had been sick all spring. He's a twin and true freshman who ran 4:01 indoors. But he'd been sick all of outdoors and his two steeples were a DNF and a 9:27. He was #37 on their roster - and you take 36 to Heps. Then a javelin guy got hurt. So he was told he was going to Heps like two days before it started.

He told Vig he was going to win the race and he almost did.

That shows you how deep Princeton is. They have a guy who almost didn't get to go to Heps who was capable of winning an event. And Princeton's 8:40 steepler didn't run the meet either as I think he's sick.

When I was coaching at Cornell and we were rolling , we definitely had #37 or 38 who could score, but I don't think we ever had a guy like that win Heps. If it did happen, it was in 2007. We had a senior Aaron Arlinghaus win who went into Heps with a 9:22 sb.

I remember realizing with a lap and a half to go he was going to win. Aaron was a big talent (sub-9 as a frosh) and a free-spirit. We had another guy on the team who was super dedicated and his girlfriend was irate he was about to lose to Aaron.

Her boyfriend had done everything right, except be born with more talent. I think I talked Aaron in coming out for one last try a few months earlier. With 1.5 laps to go, she came up to me and was like, "I can't believe this. This isn't fair. He's going to win?" I was like, "Yep. Book it. Life's not fair."

Fond memories.

PS. I can't believe we're not talking about the women's 400 hurdles where a mom cheering for daughter went out onto the track into lane 7 or 8 and messed up the finish for two competitors. I just saw it on the Ivy broadcast. The clip isn't that great as you only see her step on the track. And it didn't impact the scoring as the two impacted were in 7th and 8th. But it's still wild.

I haven't been to the Yale track in over 20 years, but how is there not fencing all the way around the track? (I recall there being some hedging?)
Cool rebound story for the Princeton SC frosh though. I didn't recognize the name in the results, which makes sense if he was sick for most of the year and didn't make too many of the results for either indoors or outdoors. Makes me curious how he will fair for the prelim rounds.

I think the original post was more about a crazy sequence of events on the live stream than it was about the team score. Early in the day on day 2 the team scores were much closer.

That fail at the line was brutal. Surely it will go viral when posted on tiktok.

And how often do you hear a teams head coach commentating on the live stream while his team is running and dropping the baton? And it was immediately after being asked about his athlete celebrating early and getting beat.

It was total madness for those watching the live stream.
