" Most likely, Jakob Ingebrigtsen will have to postpone the planned season opening, which was supposed to take place at Bislett in mid-June. – Jakob has suffered a slight injury to his Achilles. He has therefore postponed the planned trip to the mountains, and there is uncertainty as to whether he will make it to Bislett. He will most likely have to postpone the start of the season, says Ingebrigtsen's press spokesman, Espen Skoland. He continues: – Work is now underway to make it happen, but he is not taking any risks."
Norwegian media "VG" Summed up: An Achilles injury makes Jakob Ingebrigtsen's participation in the Bislett Games uncertain. Jakob has postponed his planned training trip. He will most likely have to postpone the season opener to avoid risk.
A real shame, seeing as this season looked so promising, with his indoors performances and the reports about his training. Hopefully he will not be set back too much.
As an aside, I have almost been waiting for some news along these lines, given the ongoing trial. That's a big burden of stress to deal with when you are already balancing on a knife edge of training load.
I'm afraid so, but I still have a little hope. I think he have learn from his past winter injuries, and maybe he's excessively cautious now. He seemed well in training until at least mid-april (the session in his last youtube video).
That's a bummer. I was really looking forward to his (planned) season opener.
I can't remember Jakob having many injuries/setbacks throughout the years, so let's hope he does the most reasonable preparations leading up to his season opener (whenever it will be)
He was of course injured during the 2023/2024 winter season (No European XC championships or indoor races that season. Didn't race for eight motnhs (september to may) but ended up with a season opener of 3:45.60 (2nd place) in the Prefontainse Classic mile). He also skipped the 2021 Bislett Games due to a groin injury (if I remember correctly), and he won Olympic gold later that season. So let's hope he'll be ready and fit whenever he starts this season.
(Am I forgetting any other inuries/setbacks? (Not counting fever/throat infection/covid etc.) )

Did they announce which distance Jakob was going to run at Bislett Games? I see that there's no 1500m on the schediule, but mile and 5000m. (I'm guessing the mile)
I checked Ostrava/Golden Spike's homepage, and the distance isn't announced yet. It says:
"Later on, it will be decided which discipline he should compete in—whatever it is, it's certain that he will have record ambitions for it."
might not kill his peak for the season, but forget a summer of chasing records.
Damn.
I wouldn't write off his ability to chase records so easily based on this news. To me, it sounds like a niggle he wants to get right before committing to another big quality training block. Delaying the start of the training block might mean missing Bislett. Probably not a major setback in the grand scheme of the season. All of these top athletes are going to deal with something this seasons...it's a long one!
The 5000m was looking likely at Bislett, but there is still an opportunity at Monaco for this.

Maybe he should stop chasing those pointless indoor titles and records
I agree 100%. I also know that this will get many downvotes because fans don’t understand elite level racing. Fans want to see people racing every weekend and want them going after WR in those races.

I see it more as he’s starting to lose focus, seeing more time and effort on his YouTube channel and car hobby. Money gets to everyone.
