She’s an Olympic silver medalist. 8:26 is a good time but by no means should it be considered stellar for a women with her accolades.

She legit split 8:26.0 for the last 3k of the Olympic 5k - with a 2:36.1 final K.

She was 0.1 seconds behind Chebet in the Olympic 10k, beating Hassan.

What Poptart man said is true. Placing 2nd makes it a good result but the time is not at all surprising or even notable.

There was an “of note” when she broke the European road 5k recently in Tokyo. Maybe she gets an extra bonus every time she breaks a record, so she left some time on the table today in order to get some more records later.😁

She can definitely run much faster but didn't need to today. She was not going to keep up with Chebet, so she did the bare minimum she needed for 2nd.
