What a shame we are only going to see these boys race once instead of twice next weekend. The other categories are fine - Giles is a good add to short distance on top of Hoey/Kessler, but Long Distance Men is shaping up to be a very fun one. Fisher still the favorite, but he'll have to work for it. Makes me even more disappointed they only have half the purse on the line as all the other events.

So for the women's short hurdles group: Camacho-Quinn is still injured, just as Samba-Mayela (who was initially announced to open her season at GST Miami). Masai Russell, who ran a new the US record last meet, is now also reported to be injured by GST ...
Other reported injuries by GST: Oblique Seville, Roshawn Clarke, Devon Allen and Grijalva.
I don't really know why they kept the 3k and booted the 5k - I would've done the opposite seeing as running an unpaced 5k would be a great time to practice tactics. Also, I would want to give the distance guys as much screen time as possible, which would be in the 5k. I could see that the organizers didn't want it to become a complete jogfest.

So Grijalva and Devon Allen are both contracted racers, and there is a very real possibility they may not run a single race this season in Grand Slam Track.
I wonder how this works - I would assume the racer "salary" or "retainer" is guaranteed and a risk the league had to take, but it just seems like another idea/concept that became a financial black hole for them. Devon Allen is the 3rd fastest guy in history - and he's still a fairly high profile guy. What does he negotiate for a racer contract - 60k? 80? more? Grivalja definitely less than that but not nothing, and if they don't race at all for you that money is just a write-off.

i wonder if Grant, Hagos, Kwemoi and the distance women racers could potentially sue the league.
They signed with GST, a league where a racer could earn $100k per track meet. Additionally, any racer is in contention to win the top racer in GST (across every event group). Now, even though Grant had a nearly perfect record, was in the running for $400K + the big purse for top racer, he has been unfairly disqualified from it. It's unfair to the distance runners and they should be compensated for it.

The distance women should sue Fisher. I think they must be hopping mad with him since they put in decent effort in their races and Fisher has killed their income.

This thing still exists? 💀
At least it has the balls to register its username.

I’m not sure Fisher we’l have to work particularly hard in the 3000m. It’s likely to be a one lap kick off of 8:00 pace.
Wouldn't have taken much imagination or time to arrange.
The only problem is that it would result in some awful races. I don’t think you gave it much thought. The guys that can run fast in the 800 and 1000 are going to suck in the 3000, and the 3000 guys are going to stink it up in 800/1000.

Can people explain why this was downvoted? Perfectly fair take

GST can do what they want. It's their event they can change it as they wish. Likely that GST considered potential changes and covered those possibilities in any contracts with racers.
This meet is so pathetic. And again no one will be in the stadium except a few track nuts. So boring
Well they haven't had it yet - not sure I'd go that far.
I do think you raise an interesting and relevant thing though - what kind of crowd and atmosphere will they draw?
I get that LA is the final meet in what they are hoping is it's best location in terms of spectator interest but in terms of a non-running stalwart/fan, Franklin field is their biggest and best presenting venue in a place where we have seen a lot of people in the stadium before (never seen anyone in Kingston or Drake stadium). It presents best because it is an actual stadium and a massive problem with LA is that because it's a "home straight only" track, the footage from the hardcam just shows turf soccer field and hedges and basically no spectators.
So this is the chance they have to present like a DL/top tier meeting and by going to a much more in-person spectator friendly 2 day timetable, if they can't get a crowd in here then it's a tough look. I'd guess in terms of some kind of sponsorship/legit TV deal moving forwards then this is where they need to have a big crowd in there, making it look great on camera.
Whether or not that happens remains to be seen. We will know this time next week.
