US 10 Mile Champs
Roe's 49:53 is a 10 mile world best for a women's only race (although there have been faster splits in half-marathons) and she took the US title by over a minute. In the men's race, Hicks beat out Alex Maier by one second. Interestingly, Hicks (who has previously run for Great Britain) has dual citizenship and is in the process of switching allegiance from GB to the US, so was eligible to win the national title, but not set the US record (Maier now has the US record at 45:15).

- Fast 400's Highlight Florida Relays As Texas A&M's Auhmad Robinson (44.61) And South Carolina's JaMeesia Ford (50.43) Win With NCAA Leads In the pro 400m race, Erriyon Knighton ran a big 45.37 PB to finish second behind Khaleb McRae (44.94). There was also an exciting high school boys 4x400 where Tywan Cox split 45.14 to run away from Quincy Wilson (46.24) on the anchor leg, giving Miami Northwestern the win over Bullis (3:08.74 to 3:09.97). Dana Wilson ran the 6th fastest prep 100m ever to win the Olympic development race in 11.09 and South Florida's Abdul-Rasheed Saminu ran a wind-aided 9.87 (+2.2) to win the men's collegiate 100m. In the women's steeple, New Mexico freshman Pamela Kosgei (sister of former marathon WR holder Brigid Kosgei) won by 45-seconds in 9:15 (#2 on NCAA all-time list). Washington State's Evans Kurui won the 10,000m in 27:37 over Stanford's Lex Young (27:48), UW's Chloe Foerster took the 1500m in 4:07 and 5000m wins went to Portland's Matt Stangio (13:24) and BYU's Jenna Hutchins (15:16).

There were some entertaining races in Kingston, with Grant Fisher winning an extremely tactical 5,000 and Hiltz (1:58.23) holding off Diribe Welteji in the 800. But the big stadium was largely empty on Friday night.

Gjert's Testimony Continues

WA announced today that San Diego will no longer host the World Running Champs. Ken Stone is reporting in the Times of San Diego that the event was moved despite there reportedly being a $3 million title sponsor. We believe race registrations were nowhere near what they were expecting but feel that easily could have been fixed. With 1 week notice, easily 10,000 people would have signed up if they had known this was a possibility.

This is a stunning development for a championship but the lights will be off for the first 1/3rd of the race.
