It's going to take some time for these guys to train properly. Similar to Ky Robinson. The Newbury Park boys were well developed in high school like their brother and will only continue to improve over the years. I love when top high school talent continues success
I agree, I think if they can keep reasonable progressions into the low 27/low 13 range by the end of their time in the NCAA, then train with Nico as pro’s it’s possible the United States would have three brothers under 13. As it is 26:52/12:51/3:50 mile, 27:48 10k, and 13:31/3:39 1500 makes them one of the most impressive sets of three brothers in running
Brosnan over raced and over trained them in hs and it shows. Instead of running 800m, 1600m, and some 3200m he had them racing 5ks and 10ks and running crazy mileage. Bad Brosnan.

I’m not sure running 27:48 as a college sophomore represents poor progression. What 10k time would represent proper progress at that age?

Yeah if anything the fact that these guys are into running/training enough to deal with lots of stagnation means Brosnan didn’t burn them out mentally let alone physically. Seems like the adjustment to college/training was large.

It's not poor progression. Any implication of that by the poster simply means the poster is clueless.

You compare the twins to Nico, but Nico was great from the get-go, while the twins have struggled. And if all three were at a similar level in HS, why is it taking much longer for the twins to become top NCAA runners. I believe Nico is just better than his brothers, but time will tell.

Brosnan is the complete opposite of many coaches out there, he reminds me of Jerry Schumacher. He tends to under-race his top athletes, which is quite different from what you usually see in California high school. No one in California ever raced their top athletes the way Sean Brosnan did. But the thing is, despite his unconventional methods, Brosnan really focused on true development. And that's why many consider him the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) coach.
The brothers were really into themselves with the youtube channel.
Bro it's not 1978. Everyone uses social media now. They were the some of the best HS runners in the country so having a social media presence is completely normal. You sound like you are a boomer or something.

God forbid kids these days aren't introverted, cynical, leaded-fuel-emission-huffing psychopaths like boomers of yore and are unafraid to share about themselves.
expectations were high on them due to them coming from Newbury Park, their brother, and their Youtube channel - so I think people expected greatness right out of the gate, which is unfair for anyone, especially in running, a sport where progression can be slow. but it looks like they've stuck to the process and are in a great place. and they're only sophomores so their progression will most likely continue to be a slow grind, sometimes going backwards or sideways. look at their NB teammate Colin Sahlman - he's had some amazing races in college, but also bad ones. expect the same from the Young twins.
