Your point is valid but still kind of wrong, I think. Some guys are great without winning more than a meet or two. That doesn't mean they aren't awesome (Hocker, for example).
But honestly, besides Jakob, who in the current crop of guys is known as someone who has a lot of wins under his belt?
Hocker, Kessler, Hoare, Nordas, Mario Garcia, Wightman, Gourley, Nuguse, Myers, Laros, Habz, Kerr, and Kipsang are amazing runners with zero or one big wins in their careers.
Jakob is going to be "Scrooge McDucking in medals" at the end of his career, but everyone else just has one (or zero). Their just isn't anything anyone seem to be able to do about that...
p.s. In the 5/10K game, you have the same situation for Grant Fisher. He is one of the greatest ever but has no championship wins at the global level. That does not be he isn't great.
Counting the Olympics, outdoor WCs and Diamond Leagues...
Cole Hocker has won exactly one major race.
Josh Kerr has won one exactly two major races.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen has won 25 major races (2 OG, 2 WC, 21 DL)
.
Of course Kerr is salty when he literally has one global win to Jakob's four, and one DL win to Jakob's 21. An also-ran to this generation's number top runners, not even on the same page as Jakob and Cheptegei.

For what it's worth Yared has won 3 diamond 1500m races.

Jakob’s wins in the 3000 and 5000 don’t have anything to do with a thread on who’s favored to win the 1500.

It's very funny that people think Hocker running 3:27 closing his last 300 sub 40 was somehow a fluke, especially after what he did at Millrose. Sure, he lost a couple races after the Olympics that he admitted he barely trained for, but he had demonstrated a clear leap in fitness before Paris, and it looks like he made another one this winter. At this juncture, Hocker should be the clear favorite for Tokyo.

I don't think anyone would consider diamond league a 'major race' in the same category as Olympics and World Champs so including his 21 DLs is silly. So in reality over 1500m in outdoor majors they're all at 1.

Sorry Ruxy Baby. You’re wrong with your comment above about Fisher being “one of the greatest ever 5/10ker”. He is far from that in global discussion. The times don’t matter as they are inflated versus years back.
He’s very, very good for this point in time. He hasn’t even won a silver yet.

But he was out kicked by a 5k/10k guy so based on that alone means I can't make him the favorite. But definitely at least one of the favorites.

Kerr won 3.
Diamond league
world outdoors
World indoors
Unless you guys are only considering 1500s
LOL.
One guy says only to count 1500s.
One guys says to count Kerr's World Indoor 3000 win. (Not noting that Jakob has a 1500 and 300o WIC win himself.)
Either way, Jakob CRUSHES Kerr in major international wins. By over 10x.
Want to count Jakob's many Europeans Championship wins? Because Kerr has...none. lolololol

I mean, we are already talking about runners other than the subject of the original post, but I'll bite...
