Bro that was so dumb. 5 guys under 4 in the race and they can’t get arguably the weakest highschool record.

Jakob losing from the front 3 years in a row made every kid terrified to push the pace lest the same thing happen to them.

uh, bro, i think everyone has always known how hard it is to run from the front
this is not the first time this has happened in human history
Maybe we need Sean Brosan back coaching. He would’ve never let that happen. He had some balls and so did his guys.
Yeah, Kitchen should have taken it.
Should have known he doesn't have the pure speed to hang with those guys should it come to it.
And I think Powell 100% coild have grabbed the record in a faster race, I mean he closed in 54. Looked fresh at the bell.
Crowd was dead and uninterested. As they should have been.
the worst part was that the weather was so good there was literally no wind and it was 60 degrees and dry. it's a bummer for us fans but what can i say
Also could be partially on the setup of the meet.
I know they don't like to because of "tradition", but if you have five guys who you think can break the record, you interview all 5 of them (which they did), and all 5 basically say they're not going to take it out, that's probably your queue to get a pacer.
Bigger than the finale of “Seinfeld”?
Bigger than the 2004 New York Yankees?
Bigger than the disappointment that you have caused your parents?
Wow!
It’s times like these I miss newbury park. It’s good to focus on competition in races as loaded as Arcadia, but also Arcadia is also known for being the fast 3200. Great win for Powell though, he powered away from 4 sub-4 guys.
Let's show these guys some footage of Zach Panning at the marathon trials last year then line everyone up to run the race again.
I want to see some fearless boys take it out 4:10-4:12, and runners are bleeding off the pace every hundred meters
It was a baffling race to watch. Total waste of an incredible opportunity for all the contenders.

Wouldn’t they ignore the pacer? They’re milers after all.

Panning led most of that race and then faded to 6th. I don’t think watching guys pass Panning at the end of that race would inspire those boys to run any differently.
Um, ever heard of the Grand Slam Jamaica 5000m?
Of all time? Not really. But yes, I think a lot of us were expecting them to drill it from the get go, but nope.
That said, "winning" means a lot too and these kids shouldn't be ashamed to race for wins instead of only time-trialing.
Poor Noonan, again.
Arcadia racer here, very disappointed, traveled far for a supposedly fast race and went out so slow, didn’t even end up getting a pr.

Thanks Dean but no that's ok you had your 15 minutes
They should have split that race in half, too many people in these heats. Then declared the winner to be the person with the fastest time between the two heats. And put half of the sub 4 guys in each heat. Then they'd have to push the time faster.
