Taylor Roe 49:53 10 mile WORLD’s BEST (after splitting 30:56 at 10k)

This thread title should be renamed. I don't think it will get the attention it deserves. It should be in all capitals and WORLD BEST in the title.

What a run by Taylor Roe. She will eventually be the US Record holder in all events of 10K and longer.

Big fan of Roe ever since she took a massive flyer to win the indoor 3000 at ncaas. This is a next level result. I hope she stays healthy and continues to improve.

Improbably? I’m not sure! She’s always been an aerobic beast and is rightly going right at it with the roads. Amazing adjustment though I’m hoping her and Maier become the norm for our best pure distance NCAA prospects. Probably not this good but right to 61/66 for HM hopefully

Thanks for bringing it up so quickly. The title definitely should have included WORLD BEST 🌍 it's not to often (hell HARDLY EVER) we get to see that next to an American female distance runner 😳.

Her 10k split here was as fast as her 10000m time from the TEN last week. She either way underperformed at the Ten or is just way better at road running.

Expect Great Things from Taylor and Parker in the future!

That's incredible. How do you break your track PR on the roads and then keep rolling for another almost four miles?! Super shoes and fast course, okay, but still--this is extraordinary.

The TEN wasn’t well set up for her probably. Leaders going out at 15-flat, and she definitely had to do a lot of work mid-race to catch up and led from 4800-8000. Probably demoralizing once Hauser-Thackery caught her and put her away. Conditions today are great too, but definitely some caveats in the 10K.

Of course, it is not really possible to get good equivalents using WA tables for road races like on the track, but this is 1209 points, equal to a 1:06:13 for HM and 2:22:25 for marathon.

Not her best performance at the TEN but I also think the longer she runs the better. Her mile PB is 4:33 but she is developing into an AEROBIC MONSTER with more experience and confidence...she will get MUCH better if she can stay healthy.

If she’d only run 1:08:48 in Houston and 30:58 at The Ten, that would seem like a solid but predictable start to her pro career. Adding 1:07:22 to win the U.S. half championship in Atlanta, and especially this dominant 49:53 10 mile masterclass, I think qualifies as being “improbably great.”

Very few ran both races 1 week and 2500 miles apart....Drew Hunter being the other I see among the top runners (and his pace was much slower than in CA as one would expect). She led this the last 4 miles at least - probably more like 5 or 6.

There is an interview I once saw with Dave Smith but I can't seem to find it now. He related a story about Roe.

If I remember correctly, he was walking through the hotel lobby and saw her talking on the phone. As he walked past, he gave her a nod and he noticed she was crying. He thought," Uh oh, she's talking to mom." I guess she always calls her mother when things are not going good. He left her alone and she came up to see him after the phone call. She told him she had run her last race and wanted to quit. They talked about it for a while and she seemed pretty committed to quitting. He didn't get angry to try too hard to discourage her. He understood her pre-race nerves sometimes got the best of her. He went to sleep that night assuming she would not run the next day. But the next day, she decided to give it one more try and just give it her all in what would be her last race ever.

That race turned out to be the 2022 NCAA Indoor 3000m where she won her first (and only) NCAA title.

I am not saying that is not true, but it does seem odd as she did not run the day before that winning 3000. her last race result in TFRRS before that was 2 weeks prior and she won, in fact she won the DMR, 3000, mile at the Big 12 championship that weekend.

This so amazing for Taylor and bodes so well for things to come. But while track season hasn’t even started yet, it’s making the total silence from Parker deafening for me. As a fan, I really hope she’s not injured or possibly worse, mentally struggling with the pressures of turning pro.

Her interview with Ali Feller sure sounds like she’s suffers from comparing herself to others and the interview with Coach Palmer that CITIUS did sure made her sound like a tough (princess) athlete to coach if you can’t gain her trust.

Again, I’m a fan and I just hope we get to see her rise!
