First American To Win LA In 31 Years!
Richtman, a 13:47/28:21/1:01:14 guy who never made NCAAs on the track at Montana State (but was 26th in XC), had run 2:10:47 for his marathon debut for 4th at Twin Cities.

NCAA Indoors
Martin outkicked Strand in the DMR on Friday but Strand would not let it happen again on Saturday. Teffra (3:53.60) broke Cole Hocker's meet record in the mile to win his first NCAA title as Oregon's Matthew Erickson (1:46.43) won the 800.

She dominated the race by over 14 seconds. Joseph Socarras won a tactical boys mile with a 27.67 last lap in 4:07.

- Quincy Wilson Wins Rematch With Andrew Salvadon To Secure Third Consecutive 400m Title At New Balance Nationals Indoor Salvadon beat Wilson earlier this year over 500m when he set the high school record. This time, Wilson came out top, winning 45.71 to 45.83 (first time two high schoolers broke 45 in the same indoor race). Emmry Ross won the girls 800m in the 6th fastest indoor US prep time ever with 2:03.00.

- South African 19-Year-Old Bayanda Walaza Runs 9.99 To Set National Under-20 Record He won the race in South Africa making him tied for #5 on the all-time world U20 list. *Video
- Aussie Teen Sprint Star Gout Gout Runs World-Leading 200m With 20.05 At The Queensland State Championships He ran that in the heats and then won the final in a wind-assisted 19.98 (+3.6m/s). This after winning the 100m in 10.38 on Saturday.
- Mondo Duplantis Clears 6.05m To Win Mondo Classic In Sweden Greece's Emmanouil Karalis cleared 6.0m for 2nd. Duplantis also took two good attempts at a would-be world record of 6.28m.

NCAA Indoors Day 1
Gary Martin split 3:48 on the DMR to take down UNC and Ethan Strand as Virginia coach Vin Lananna won another NCAA title. The 5k sizzeld as Brian Musau closed in 26 to win in 13:11.

BYU’s Riley Chamberlain ran down Oregon’s NCAA mile record holder Silan Ayyildiz on the anchor leg of the DMR while Lemngole added the NCAA 5k crown to her steeple and XC titles.
- Moll Twins Go 1-2 In NCAA Pole Vault For UW Amanda cleared 4.70m on her first attempt to beat her sister, Hana, on countback as she took three attempts.

- USATF Names Team Of 56 For World Indoors In Nanjing China (March 21-23) The team includes ten medalists from last year's World Indoors, lead by 60H champ Grant Holloway who is currently on a 76-race win streak over the 60H. Shelby Houlihan will race the 3000m and Josh Hoey the 800m.
- Ethiopia's World Indoor Team Will Include 2024 Champions Tsige Duguma (800m) And Freweyni Hailu (3000m) World 10,000m champ Gudaf Tsegay and two-time world indoor 1500m champion Samuel Tefera will both race the 1500m. Olympic 10,000m silver medalist Berihu Aregawi is in the 3000m.

She said, “I’ve been really strict with myself. Anytime my mind goes to that feeling, I’ve been like, ‘Stop. Think about the process.’ Putting those outcome goals creates a lot of pressure for me, so I’ve really tried to avoid thinking about how it’d feel."
Shelby Speaks

We Have another 1500 phenom
Already in 2025, Ruthe has set a world record for the fastest 1500 (3:41.25), mile (4:01.72) and 3000 (7:56.18) ever run by someone at the age of 15 (he turns 16 on April 12). That being said, Ruthe tying his training mate Tanner is a shock as Tanner ran 3:51 in the mile for the win at BU on February 21 and has a 3:31 1500 pb from 2023. Race video embedded above.

Big Administrative News
WA announced today that San Diego will no longer host the World Running Champs. Ken Stone is reporting in the Times of San Diego that the event was moved despite there reportedly being a $3 million title sponsor. We believe race registrations were nowhere near what they were expecting but feel that easily could have been fixed. With 1 week notice, easily 10,000 people would have signed up if they had known this was a possibility.

This is a stunning development for a championship but the lights will be off for the first 1/3rd of the race.
*MB: Jakob says wavelight wasn't added at Euros at his request: "I wasn't aware of that. I assume it's a spectator stunt."
MB: US Olympians will now receive $200k each thanks to a $100 million donation by Ross Stevens They'll have to wait for the money though as they get 100k 20 years after they compete (or when they turn 45) and then 100k goes to their estate when they die.
