This presumes that all of heat 1s times weren’t effected by the disaster that race was. USC might have won the whole race without all those interferences but they don’t get any repercussions
FB, time back on clock and auto 1st down to go ahead field goal.
BB, auto 3 freethrows with no time to win it all.
Track, kick in the balls and go home.
They'd rather not see someone lose after a re-run than to see justice.
They got back on the track, grabbed the baton and finished as per rules to have a chance at a fair ruling. Any other event and it would have been allowed. Last event, the officials were just tired and wanted it to go away/be over. Didnt matter to AM either way. USC survived. Arkansas botched in other events that would have made the difference.
Hopefully there will be no fouls or collisions at outdoor nats, but if there are, maybe we'll get an epic rerun for the ages.
FWIW, just received this email from the NCAA:
"Following the conclusion of the men’s 4x400 meter relay multiple protests were filed by two schools. Upon further video review, the meet referees made the final decision to disqualify Texas A&M for impeding a runner from another school (Rule 7.5-2a ) and all further protests were denied. All team scores are final, and USC is the 2025 NCAA Division I men’s indoor track & field team champion.
Cody Brousek, NCAA Track & Field Sub-Committee Chair."
1 Hour wasted doing your job? Of course you would consider it a waste. Your job is to follow Athletics and your hobby is posting dumb threads on LRC. You did both of those here so for you it was extremely productive.
Does anyone know of other NCAA meets where athletes or teams have been allowed to re-run a race? What criteria is looked at for the officials to make a decision? The rule book only has the words "rerun" in a section about timing malfunctions. Does world athletics have rules about rerunning events? Curious about other situations.
