Top mile times by a high school girl:
1. 4:24.11 - Mary Cain (But she was a pro at the time.)
2. 4:26.14 - Jane Hedengren
3. 4:27.97 - Sadie Engelhardt (Not running for her high school, running as a semi-pro paid NIL athlete.)
Very even splits:

As soon as Sadie makes that number public, then we will know.

You don't need wavelights if you can pace that well.

My jaw literally dropped watching that.
Her competition today was NO competition (and they’re all incredible runners in their own rights!).
She’s already at the level of potentially winning NCAA’s and she hasn’t even started college yet!
Just, amazing.
Amazing time by Jane Hedengren!
But how does Rylee Blade run a 15:16 5000 but only a 4:42 mile? That is insane endurance!

I'm hoping for a Hedengren vs Engelhardt mile race this year.

And a lot of runners can pull it off. The effects of wave lights are way overrated.

Ryle Blade's 1600 split in the 5k was 4:54. Even crazier, her third 1600 in the 5k (from 3200 to 4800) was only 4:51.
She is a rare runner who can run only slightly slower than her mile time for 3 miles.

If you move the bar back exactly one hour from now (1:15PM ET), it will be right at the start of the race.
It's already on Youtube
The NCAA women's winning time yesterday was like 4:32 lol.

I'd guess due to fatigue - some recover quicker than others. She had 1 day between but coming down from a 5000 is tough.
I ran once 5000, 3000 on back to back days at a meet - about 14:15 and just a hair under 8:30. I think it's pretty obvious which one was first
Geez, Blade was not afraid to throw some hands and be aggressive during that start.
