If that doesn’t take away all meaning of this WC, idk what to say to you. How can anyone say these results matter? The fields were an absolute joke
Can't be. I read a thread here by experts clearly explaining that he was done. He was only good for NCAA, was not fast enough to ever make a US team, or compete at world level. Sheeeeesh.
Well Luke Houser nearly beat Neil Gourley who’s somewhere in the 10th-15th range globally.
The result is much like past ones where the likes of Ryan Hill and Marc Scott have medaled. Houser is definitely in good form now. I bet he could run around 3:31-2. I know his post-USAs BU race wasn’t that fast, but I don’t think he was fully recovered.

🤣Local road clout chasers and Strava segment kings offering such opinions are hilarious! LRC is where America’s most bitter running wannabes, has beens, and never was’ gather. Silky Johnson’s of the running world.

My good man, they’re not even that. If you look at the profiles on all the tough guys/women commenting on Thom Mckaskill’s 1500m page, these “experts” are literally joggers with zero concept of what elite racing is all about/involves/requires. My gut feeling is that they are the very same “experts” that frequent this forum.
Impressive race, not a crazy time but they started off slow. USA 1500m is so loaded, I mean Luke was like 3rd best on his college team, getting a medal. He did look fit though.
Congrats and especially after the last year or so... I don't know anything about Houser's personal challenges*, but I am glad he is running well. His potential is limitless...

"Luke Houser was released due to a code of conduct violation with the team and will no longer be a member of the Brooks Beasts nor a Brooks-sponsored athlete." In a follow-up, the Brooks spokesperson said that the company will have no further comment on this.

This is the reality of our sport. Jakob said it best, "You can only race the people who show up."
If that means the fields are weaker than we'd like, that is just a fact. Don't blame Jakob or Gourley or Houser.
I mean seriously, Kenya and Uganda and Ethiopia can't find a couple real 3:31 guys who would run this? That is insane. How much does a ticket to China actually cost?!
Yeah I mean it's definetely an extremely soft field.
Props to Houser for showing up. But 3rd in a WIC is kinda crazy for a dude who took 3rd at USA indoors when 7 or 8 of the 10 best 1500 runners in the country didn't show.

Seen through neutral glasses from the other side of the pond I will say that Houser ran as a man. Stayed cool at the rail without spending unnecessary energy and surged in the right moment in both heat and final. That was just according to the book. Many athletes could learn from that.
I don´t understand why people like you want to denigrate athletes who are performing well.

I mean Houser beat those two "better" teammates in the indoor mile, maybe he's just better at indoors?
US mens 1500 is absolutely stacked. Hocker, Nuguse, Kessler, Strand are all 25 or younger and thats not even mentioning guys like Nathan Green or Colin Sahlman.
