Always loved the way Coe attacked the 800 distance. One interesting comment that stood out to me was fight before the paris Olympics when Coe was asked how he would defeat Jakob ingebritson if he was in the race. Coe said "I'm really not sure how I would tactically approach that matter"
Not everyone, but this person appears to be. How else do you explain a sports minister of a minor country like Zimbabwe getting selected over four presidents of sports governing bodies? Those four sports presidents are much more qualified for the position than Kirsty.

Exactly how are they more qualified ?
This is terrible logic. Like saying that in presidential elections only people from large states like Texas and California should be allowed to win whereas people from smaller states like Rhode Island and Kentucky are not qualified enough.
Its high time IOC had a person who pays close attention to the issues hindering sports development in all countries not just North America and Europe.

Because the IOC is an international sports governing body, and those other candidates have experience leading an international sports governing body! The equivalent in a presidential primary election would be a small town school board chairperson getting selected over four governors.
The IOC is corrupt to its core. Always has been and this vote solidifies that it continues to be.
Kirsten Coventry is Zimbabwe’s most decorated Olympian have competed and won medals in Athens and Beijing Olympics.
She became Zimbabwe’s sports minister in 2018. She is white making up 0.2% of the population.
Given the history of Zimbabwe, it’s many brutal dictatorships and more recently violent treatment of whites, killing them and expropriating commercial farms, it begs the question how could a white women be appointed to parliament, be given expropriated farmland and survive in a totalitarian dictatorship? It has been written “she has become the soft face for the brutal regime”
Ironically, Coventry ran on a platform of “zero tolerance for corruption and unethical behavior”. Make no mistake, she is a political operator in Zimbabwe’s political landscape. Robert Mugabe (a real gem of a dictator that used his North Korean trained military to kill tens of thousands. Emmerson Mnangagwa (longtime friend of Mugabe and enforcer installed Coventry as minister of sports and recreation. In 2020, she received expropriated farmland which was understood as reward for her silence of atrocities and loyalty to Mnangagwa who rigged the 2023 elections and reappointed Coventry. She has been blamed for an 18 month FIFA ban, failure to improve and expand sports infrastructure.
She should have been disqualified and not able to run for IOC President.
I see Seb Coe as I see Dick Pound. Two guys that operated at the highest of moral standard, who understood rule of law, ethics, integrity that were denied the IOC leadership due to just that. The IOC is much like the United Nations - too many corrupt countries represented by corrupt individuals. Now another such individual is in charge.
This is terrible logic. Like saying that in presidential elections only people from large states like Texas and California should be allowed to win whereas people from smaller states like Rhode Island and Kentucky are not qualified enough.

Wrong !
Coe only has experience in one sport whereas Coventry as a Cabinet has experience managing multiple sports. The Olympics are a multi-sport event and this favors Coventry.
Secondly being a cabinet minister in Zimbabwe, working with a shoestring budget requires far more creativity than being a World Athletics leader.
The Cabinet minister for Sports in Zimbabwe has to ensure that stadia are being built for various sports, stadia are being properly maintained, the welfare of national team athletes are being taken care of. Athletes in various sports have medical cover and training facilities. The right set of sportsmen are representing Zimbabwe in various events like the All Africa Games or the Commonwealth games. If Zimbabwe is hosting an event, she must ensure that the hosting logistics are in place.
And she must do this for soccer, track, rugby, swimming, cricket, boxing and whatever other sport Zimbabwe participates.
And it requires far more creativity because everything in Zimbabwe is done on a shoestring budget.
Being a world athletics president is rather easy compared to being the sports minister of Zimbabwe.
Absurd. The most difficult and complex part of the IOC job is managing the competing interests of multiple countries. Coventry has no experience doing that. Four candidates do. DEI hire.

The Olympics aren’t going to be held in Zimbabwe anytime soon

What competing interests need to be managed ?
Thomas Bach did not manage any competing interests.
Coventry is better because she will be more empathetic to the needs of countries that aren't doing well at the Olympics due to lack of funding. She is more likely to ensure that funding actually goes to the athletes who need the funding instead of pot belly officials. IOC generates billions of $$$$ yet athletes get none of it for training or medical cover. That is the issue that needs to be addressed.
The second issue that needs to be addressed is corruption. Coe will never address IOC corruption. He was Lamine Diack's vice president and did nothing to investigate the corruption that plagued world athletics during the Lamine Diack era.
Silver lining to Seb Coe not winning/getting or making bribes with IOC delegates, he may be now free of the “political” maneuvers necessary to win the IOC top job and can refocus his efforts on Athletics.
Specifically, Kenya’s deplorable doping history. He knows what needs to be done and by doing so will send a strong message to the many other countries with rampant doping problems and free up AIU assets to look into Ethiopia and others.

Kenya and Ethiopia cannot be banned. You would have to be prove systemic doping exists. Its also obvious that there is far more testing going on in Kenya than in the US or Europe.
How else do you explain the fact that Micheal Saruni raced for years in America but was never busted. Then as soon as he went to compete in Kenya he was busted. What that ought to tell you is that there is no testing in America. Its all freestyle doping. But as soon as you go to Kenya you get tested.
To start, there are competing interests with which countries get selected to host the Games. The IOC President must manage an institution responsible for awarding and staging Games every two years that generate billions of dollars and are coveted by politicians around the world as they seek to bolster their own and their nation's profiles. Coventry has only had to worry about little Zimbabwe in her role. She hasn’t had to lead sporting organization for over 100 countries.
You wanna talk corruption? Coventry has also had to defend her association with the government of controversial President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has faced allegations of corruption and human rights abuses.

The IOC president doesn't decide who hosts the games. Its decided by committee. All that the white, hetero men in that committee have done so far is collect bribes from potential hosts. Yet you have the audacity to complain about DEI when corruption is the problem.
Secondly Coventry cannot be expected to clean up corruption by Emmerson Mnangagwa,. If she does, she could be thrown in jail. By contrast Coe could have cleaned up corruption in World Athletics. He didn't again. Proving yet again that hetero white men are corrupt but have the audacity to complain about DEI
