Jonah Koech wasn't even supposed to be in Sunday's 1500. As they approached the bell, he was in 13th out of 17. A lap later, he was the champion. He is just the third American man to win a Diamond League 1500/mile and the first runner sponsored by Under Armour to win a DL race. His 3:37.27 pre-race pb is also the slowest of any man to win a DL 1500/mile.
Joshua Cheptegei set his 12:35.36 WR at the Monaco DL in 2020 and Gebrhiwet sits #2 on the all-time list after he missed it by just over a second at Oslo last year with 12:36.73.
Mantz was 12 seconds back with a mile to go, but surged and caught Ebenyo with less than 100m to go, beating him by 2 seconds. USA Red won the men's team title.

2021 Olympic 800m Champion Athing Mu returned to racing a competitive field with a 4:10.70 2nd place finish in the 3rd heat of the 1500, former World Champion Jake Wightman got a nice win in the 1500 in 3:35, Olympic silver medallist Kenneth Rooks cruised to an 8:14 win, Oregon's Klaudia Kazimierska won the 1500 (4:03) over Emily Mackay, as Linden Hall (14:43) and Eduardo Herrera (12:58) got dominant 5000m wins with Herrera going sub 13:00 for the first time and taking down Arturo Barrios' Mexican outdoor record of 13:07.
Korir beat out Canada's Rory Linkletter (2:08:31) and US's CJ Albertson (2:08:55). 2022 NCAA 10,000m Chelangat was making her debut and won the women's race by almost five minutes.
Hansen won in 3:59.02 to Coombs' 3:59.23. The top-8 all broke 4:05. The girls' mile was won in 4:43 by Kinley Wolfe.
Linkletter and Albertson will be doubling back five weeks after 6th and 14th place finishes in Boston, respectively. Both say they bounced back well after Boston and are hoping to contend for the win in Ottawa.
The USATF LA Grand Prix and USATF Bermuda Games were also cancelled this year. Grand Slam Track is the new big kid on the block in N. America.
Only four Americans have run faster than the 2:06:39 pb Talbi, a 2024 Olympian for Morocco, ran to win last year's Houston Marathon.

Clinger ran 1:12:17 (breaking the American record by 52 seconds) to Klecker's 1:12:31 and Bor's 1:12:53. Carrie Ellwood won the women's race by over a minute in 1:22:27, also setting an American record.

In January of 2021, the former world champ told a drug tester he needed to go get his passport in his car and then he sped off. His ban wasn't formally confirmed by CAS until February of this year. The AIU lists his ban as having ended in February but WADA tells us Aman could have technically competed during the last 4 years so his ban still got 3+ years to go even though the AIU database says it ended in February.
"He’s still feeling parts of the concussion coming to him when he reaches certain high speeds and levels," said Girma's agent Hussein Makke. "...He’s not normal yet. He’s able to train and he’s put in good workout sessions, but at such a point, a combination of intensity and other things, he feels some dizziness and some things...He's planning to come back and run his race when he’s close to 100%."
