- Runner Disqualified After Winning USATF 100-Mile Championship Due To Illegal Shoes Rajpaul Pannu used a HOKA shoe that has a 48mm heel stack height (8mm over the legal limit for road racing). He explained that he did not know his shoes were over the legal limit and only switched to them as a last minute decision because his normal shoes gave him a blister. The shoes may not even have given him an advantage as they are meant to be a training shoe (heavier with more cushion) rather than a super racing shoe

- WADA Drops Lawsuit Against USADA And Travis Tygart Over Chinese Swimmer Scandal Comments Tygart accused WADA of a cover-up of the Chinese swimmers which caused them to file da defamation lawsuit. WADA says it remains "convinced" the lawsuit would have been successful but has withdrawn in the "interest of moving on" while Tygart says dropping the "baseless" lawsuit is "vindication" for himself and USADA.

Hoey now trails only Wilson Kipketer (1:42.67) on the world all-time list indoors at 800m as Kessler put on a front-running masterclass to win the 1500m after claiming the 3000m on Saturday.
Akins and Hiltz won indoor titles in the 800 and 1500 on Sunday after winning the same events at the 2024 Olympic Trials. In the women's sprints, Alexis Holmes (50.51) dominated the 400 and Celera Barnes (7.11) upset Jacious Sears in the 60.

Barega Goes For It In His Debut
(link fixed) The 2021 Olympic 10,000 champ went out in 14:18 (2:00:40 pace) and was still on 2:03 flat pace at 35k before holding on for the win. Compatriot Anchinalu Dessie won the women's race in 2:22:17 in her debut as well.

Kessler beat Jacobs, 7:38.00 to 7:38.02, in a sensational last-lap duel as Sam Gilman (7:38.64) was a surprising 3rd. Grant Holloway improved to 69-0 in the 60m hurdles while former DII star Wes Ferguson impressed in the 800 prelims.
Hiltz edged Houlihan just before the line to win a great race, while Houlihan is heading back to World Indoors in her first year back from a doping ban.

The Gender Issue Is Becoming Less Of An Issue
- World Athletics Tightening Gender Rules And Introducing Cheek Swab Tests To Check For The Male Y Chromosome WA's previous transgender rules barred anyone from competing in the women's category if they went through male puberty. But they have revised that rule based on recent evidence showing a "significant performance gap before the onset of puberty." The new rules will also be applied to difference of sex development (DSD) athletes as they say new evidence has "clarified that testosterone suppression in 46XY DSD, external and 46XY transgender individuals can only ever partly mitigate the overall male advantage."

- There Is Currently An Assault On Demi Payne's 10-Year-Old 4.75m NCAA Pole Vault Record Since that record, there have been 51 attempts to equal or surpass it and 15 of them have come this season. Three of the attempts were by Rutgers' Chloe Timberg who cleared 4.72m (#2 on the NCAA all-time list) and the rest were from UW twins Amanda and Hana Moll who have both cleared 4.66m.

2025 London Will Be Spectacular
London never fails to deliver. This year's field is amazing yet again as it will include a record six sub-2:05 men and the three fastest women in history. Plus, it will serve as the debut for two-time world cross country champion Jacob Kiplimo, the only man in history with 3 sub-58 half-marathon clockings.
Kipchoge, who is seeking a record 5th London victory, says he wants to keep running as long as he can inspire people to run. "I will not be in LA [2028] when you convince me that the world has become a running world."
