The bigger question is why are shoe companies releasing racing shoes that are illegal to race in?
They were probably wearing some road racing carbon shoes, which have been banned in tracks for a while now. They're not illegal on the roads, unless they're over the 40 mm rule. The reason why shoe companies are making racing shoes over that stack height is simple. Hobby joggers running boston or nyc marathon aren't going get DQ if they are wearing the Adidas Prime X, Asics super blast, or the hoka skyward x. And there are a lot of people willing to spend the money on a banned shoe if they think it's going increase their chance of running faster.

The stack height limits for track and road are different, road allows a much higher stack height. My guess is they weren't wearing track specific shoes. These are new rules about November 2024 if I recall. Thailand had a national championship race last year where over half the field was DQ.

No, shame on the athletes. These are adults, they could read a rule book just as easily as the coach.
It's literally the job of coaches to know these kinds of rules. If a coach isn't smart enough to figure out the shoe rules then they shouldn't be a coach.

The 15:45 5k runner, Peninah Mutisya, hasn't run an 800 in college.
There is a Peninah Mutisya that has a World Athletics profile that has a 1:58.76 PR in the 800 listed from 2023. It appears to be the same person and not someone else with the same name. If that 1:58.76 isn't a typo then it seems very odd that someone that fast in the 800 has never run an 800 in college, but is only running longer distances instead.

You have to think that running indoor races with road racing shoes with big stack heights can't be good for your lower legs and hips. Not only are you on a bank, but you have 50 turns in a 5k. I'm curious how many stress fractures come from people wearing these shoes during meets and practicing in them all the time on the track.
Hampton has someone else who could score in the 800. But this runner could win the 5000 and likely 3000. Why not a mile 3000 double then? Maybe the extra heat for the mile making it 3 races instead of 2, maybe because of which teams can score in those events.

No, it’s not complicated. Caster Semenya is (and always was) XY male. She was not born with a ‘vagina’, but basically deformed genitalia that were assumed to be something like a vagina in a part of Africa that probably didn’t conceive of issues like this. Deformed genitals do not make a male female. Also, even in small villages in Africa, one knows at about the age of 14-15 that when menstruation doesn’t occur, something is wrong. When the rest of him developed as purely male at puberty, everyone knew. Semenya - a poor male club runner in reality - knew very well she had a huge advantage over females, but didn’t care because it made him rich. He doesn’t bother to play female in his personal life either, so I won’t bother to call him a ‘her’.
You can go on to talk about the 1 in a million who may have complete androgen sensitivity syndrome (CAIS) in which an XY male is actually insensitive to androgens and develops as a female. They are a huge - and very rare - exception but - unfortunately - will be caught in the ban. These rare exceptions will simply not be able to compete in elite female sport. Fairness for the billions of women who deserve their own sport and spaces outweighs the rare XY CAIS exceptions.
I very much dislike how these rare exceptions are being used to (the extremely common) excuse of men who simply have a mental body dysmorphia; and/or are total losers in the male division and need to beat up some girls and women to make themselves feel good; and/or are predators trying to get in to female spaces; or those like Semenya who are male, but born with a genital deformity and knowingly (as makes) use this fact to get some sympathy, lots of money and easily win over much more deserving females.
