Full one second indoor/outdoor PB very impressive. I assume she and Nia were teammates before Nia left Brooks. They chatted after the race but hard to tell how friendly. Whatever Nia's problem was at Brooks, it probably wasn't Valery.

Yes, they were teammates. But did you notice that Nia corrected Lewis Johnson in the pronunciation of Tobias's last name and then Oto Bolden chipped in and said Nia was wrong?
How could you train with someone every day for a year and not know how to pronounce their last name?

To be fair Grant Fisher is not of Mexican descent. His mom is Chinese and father Canadian (white). Fisher was actually born in Canada as well but moved to Michigan as a child.

He is Canadian by birth but yes according to AI his ethnicity is half white and half Asian (Chinese). He was born in Ontario, Canada. 🇨🇦

But to the point of this thread Valery Tobias ran great! It was great to see a runner I didn't know have a great breakout like that. She really made the race, as they say.
I am looking forward to seeing her go even further under the 2:00 minute barrier!

silva is Portuguese in origin... besides, names can be misleading about ethnicity, one shouldn't assumed based on them
