A us team could realistically go around 8:45 this year. Hoey (or kessler) to Hall to Hoppel to either Hocker or Nuguse. Go Hoey-Hall-Hoppel-Kessler and it's an Adidas team as well. Likely not something that they would run though

Sorry to nitpick, but the world records in each of those events add up to 8:59 or so. Even if you give a running start advantage it would be 8:56 or slower.
The b team was on track for 9:20 or faster. This is just a juggernaut of a program and they easily could have done that record with all American runners. Powell should be our national milers coach and organize systems for coaching the mile throughout the ranks.
Leadoff is Irish/American, born in Cali. His WA does say Ireland but he has never raced under their flag. After reading the rules this should still be a valid WR
Not the case. 2:41 + 43 + 1:40 + 3:41 is exactly 8:45, 8:47 if one is including fractions of a second. 8:45 may be a bit generous but assume circa 1 second running start bonus and 2:42, 43, 1:41, 3:42 for 8:48 is pretty reasonable if all of them go about a second off their PR's.
