- Four sub-2:04 men including the Olympic champ and the fourth fastest man in history.
- The women's WR holder vs the previous WR holder vs the Olympic champ
- Jacob Kiplimo debut!!!!
- A de facto European championship: Nageeye, Crippa, Petros, Cairess plus the top Aussies, Robinson and Buchanan
- A true British championship on the men's side: Cairess, Scott, Mahamed, Sesseman, Mellor, and good to see Jake Smith healthy and competing again
- A long-awaited debut for Eilish McColgan and Alex Yee seeing what he can do away from the tri
So much there, but not a lot for US fans. Emily Durgin and Susanna Sullivan might provide some interest but I guess all the top people are getting a Boston payday. The women's British field is also a bit disappointing. No Calli Thackeray, Clara Evans, or Sam Harrison.
Seriously, who is left who can pace these women through the halfway mark? Nobody. This is going to be a very fast championship style race and I don’t think we will see anybody with the leaders from early on who isn’t in it to win it. Like Jakob in the 5000, if Hassan has trained well and is at her best, she’s not going to lose. Under these conditions, unlike Chicago, Chepngetich or Assefa are not going to be able to go fast enough to drop her and then, as in Paris, Hassan is not going to be outrun in the last 1-2 K. This race will be a fast version of Paris, not like Chicago 2024. Hassan wins in 2:15 high. Maybe 2:14 if the women work on it together.

Maybe one of the 63/64 HM women taking them through in 66 low?

The problem with that is that the sub-65 women are big stars in their own right and can get good paydays from racing, more than any race will pay for pacing duties. If London wants a WR then it'll have to allow male pacers again. I wouldn't mind for a one-off race

Hassan for the win, Iike always. If she’s there at 40k she’s got it.

I agree that Assefa or Ruth may not challenge Hassan for the win. But on the form from here last year, Jepkosgei or Megertu could give her all she can handle.
Oh my. The GOAT is in town. We now have seven sub-2:05 guys. London bringing it again. So glad I'm not running it this year because I need to be watching this live

Any of the top American men should be able to pace the women through halfway.
