Kessler beat Jacobs, 7:38.00 to 7:38.02, in a sensational last-lap duel as Sam Gilman (7:38.64) was a surprising 3rd. Grant Holloway improved to 69-0 in the 60m hurdles while former DII star Wes Ferguson impressed in the 800 prelims.
Hiltz edged Houlihan just before the line to win a great race, while Houlihan is heading back to World Indoors in her first year back from a doping ban.

Hocker (12:57.82) got a pb and edged training mate Teare (12:57.97) as both went under the 13:01.00 Worlds standard. Powell ran 3:56.66 to take a second off Hobbs Kessler's HS indoor record while Crater (OR)'s Josiah Tostenson (3:57.47) and Tayvon Kitchen (3:59.61) became the first HS teammates to break 4:00 in the same race.
More Weekend Indoor Action
Gary Martin ran 3:50.09 to anchor Virginia to a 9:14.19 win at Arkansas. The time was slightly slower than the 9:14.10 UW ran last week, but that was on an oversized track. The Oregon women won at the BU DMR Challenge in 10:42.05 with collegiate mile record holder Silan Ayyildiz running 4:26.46 on the anchor. (Like the men's record, some women's teams have run faster, but on an oversized track).

Jonathan Gault onsite story Six days after his 7:22.91 WR in the 3,000m at Millrose, Fisher broke the 5,000m record at Boston Universityand also bettered his outright American record of 12:46.96.

- Mile To Replace The 1500m At The 2026 Commonwealth Games It's being done as a tribute to the "Miracle Mile," the iconic duel between Roger Bannister and John Landy's at the 1954 Games in Vancouver.
- Gjert Ingebrigtsen trial will last from March 24 - May 16 Jakob and his sister will testify for 1.5 days each while Gjert will respond with 3 days of testimony. Narve Gilje Nordås and Per Svela, who still have Gjert Ingebrigtsen as their coach, will be in the witness box on May 5 while Linn T. Amundsen - who was behind the TV success "Team Ingebrigtsen" - will talk on May 4.
- Athletics Weekly: "Remembering Kelvin Kiptum, One Year On From His Passing" The author writes, "Kiptum’s time in the marathon was short and sweet but the legacy he left over 26.2 miles will be felt for generations to come."

The Gender Issue Is Becoming Less Of An Issue
- World Athletics Tightening Gender Rules And Introducing Cheek Swab Tests To Check For The Male Y Chromosome WA's previous transgender rules barred anyone from competing in the women's category if they went through male puberty. But they have revised that rule based on recent evidence showing a "significant performance gap before the onset of puberty." The new rules will also be applied to difference of sex development (DSD) athletes as they say new evidence has "clarified that testosterone suppression in 46XY DSD, external and 46XY transgender individuals can only ever partly mitigate the overall male advantage."

- There Is Currently An Assault On Demi Payne's 10-Year-Old 4.75m NCAA Pole Vault Record Since that record, there have been 51 attempts to equal or surpass it and 15 of them have come this season. Three of the attempts were by Rutgers' Chloe Timberg who cleared 4.72m (#2 on the NCAA all-time list) and the rest were from UW twins Amanda and Hana Moll who have both cleared 4.66m.

London never fails to deliver. This year's field is amazing yet again as it will include a record six sub-2:05 men and the three fastest women in history. Plus, it will serve as the debut for two-time world cross country champion Jacob Kiplimo, the only man in history with 3 sub-58 half-marathon clockings.

Jonathan Gault pays tribute to two legends
