what Simpson didn't say, but probably told herself later was that she let Rowbury draft off her for 90% of the race, due to her trying to see if the leaders were within striking distance. Simpson should have just decided to go for the record rather than the win. Instead she got neither........and yes, she's pissed and frustrated.
How do you extrapolate that Simpson could run for the record and thereby beat Rowbury when she had no response to Rowbury in the final 100m?
Rowbury was going to beat Simpson either way yesterday
Accept the facts, suck in your pride and move on
Eugene Register-Guard, the paper of Track Town USA, misspells Rowbury's name.
Ugh.

Great race by both women.
Agreed. The only bittches are the tiny little dicks trying to make drama out of nothing.

It's really a shame that in the last two weeks, Jenny's gone from being the favorite for gold at worlds to being in a position where she'll be lucky to get any medal. Dibaba is obviously in another universe, but Hasan is clearly better as well right now, and Simpson will have to contend with Rowbury, Kipyegon, and others for bronze. She's a great tactical racer and she still has time to catch up to Hasan, but she definitely has to be feeling frustrated right now.
Your on to something both Simpson and Coburn seem to be running flat.
Not sure if Whetmore is saving their peak or maybe something else is up?
Dibaba is on a roll can she hold this peak until Beijing? Shannon gains a bit confidence , now has real medal potential. Hasan in a slower championship race is looking good! Women's 1500 has never looked better going into a WC.

I think Jenny was fine with letting Shannon draft off her because I don't think for a minute that Jenny consider Shannon a threat. Shannon has really never been a thread to her US dominance. Jenny was looking at the bigger fish. She was competing, in her mind, against the international competition. Yes, Shannon got her this time but I doubt it will ever happen. Again.
It has happened before, and it will happen again.
San Francisco and Boulder runners have disliked each other's promos and superlatives for 100 years at minimum. Jenny just jacked-up the historic rivalry two orders of magnitude! Thanks Jenny. We love and admire you nevertheless.

No, I guess you're not or never have been a competitor. Her tone was firm in the truth, and yes she most definitely didn't like getting beat and that was apparent in her tone. However, she handled the loss graciously, but to act lovingly about it - hell no, she's a fierce competitor. Competitor's don't take losing lightly, and that is why she is so good.

I doubt it has to do with location.
Yes, and it's possible that both Simpson and Rowbury will both medal. Having to run three races complicates matters inordinately, and both Simpson and Rowbury have proven themselves capable of coping with championship racing.

It is possible that the Americans will not medal.

"Bitch frosting??" She's a world-class athlete and a fierce competitor. She didn't like getting beat and will do her best to make sure it doesn't happen again. This type of rivalry is what makes races worth watching! Congrats to Shannon and Go Jenny! Can't wait to see them race again.
Boulder's Barringer won the only American Caucasian major distance gold medal in 30-something years since L.A.'s Decker won two. You know San Francisco's Rowbury will have that on her mind in Beijing in August.

Oh lighten up milkshake, if you view the term "bitch frosting" in a tongue in cheek way, it is hilarious.
Haven't you followed Rowbury and Simpson's epic battles?
Not a devisive word exchanged between them, yet, absolutely no quarter is given once the gun goes. It's a great rivalry that simmers and bubbles along, nothing wrong with taking a satirical view on this, remember the two of them falling over the line together? No handshakes or checking if the other was ok afterwards. Catty or what?

Oh fuck you, dandruff.
'Pathetic' was the right word.
Ok. We have a different perspective/reaction to the use of the term "bitch frosting" by the original poster.
I can't take it seriously, I find it hilarious, it's like a non pc thing that Ron Burgundy would use to insult a woman with. The word "bitch" is flung around so much these days that's it's completely lost any of the meaning it had when I was growing up. The term "bitch frosting", regardless of the sincerity of it's use, is at least a new way of putting things, it's funny because I haven't heard that one before.
On one hand we seem to live in a sometimes overly pc world, yet on the other hand, there are no taboos left to break. You have to laugh!
Anyway, I used "milkshake" as a satirically light "oh hush", like a term of endearment because milkshakes are good!
How dare you compare me to dandruff! Dandruff isn't great at all!
Relax, you guys. I'm the one who originally posted the "bitch frosting" comment. I was only kidding; don't get your panties in a twist.
On another note, I just posted this in another thread. For all of you saying that Jenny rabbited Shannon to the AR (including the LRC front page), know that Jenny would have used Shannon in the same exact way:
If you watch the race again, neither Jenny nor Shannon wanted to lead after the second pacemaker. They ran side by side for almost the whole first lap. Jenny finally slotted in behind the pacemaker around the finish line. I think that Jenny wanted to ride the Shannon train just as much as Shannon wanted to ride the Jenny train. It's called tactics.
I think Jenny should have gone with Hassan and Dibaba. Hassan ran bravely, even though she probably knew that she'd die. She was "exploring new territory" as I saw mentioned in relationship to Kiprop. That's ballsy. Jenny did not "explore new territory," she just tried to win the pack race.

I'm so going to go play bingo now!
There is absolutely way too much stupidity going on with the premise: "Jenny Simpson paced Shannon Rowbury...blah blah blah." When I read those words on the front page article, I almost puked. Did anyone actually pay attention to the race? What did Jenny pace her for, like 300 meters from the time the second rabbit dropped until the bell? Admittedly a difficult portion of the race, but at 900 meters, Simpson was around 2 seconds off Hassan, which LOOKS worse than it is within the race. She wasn't doing anything more than trying to keep/catch up.
There was a portion of the race around 600-700 meters that a second or so gap formed from Jenny to the 2nd pacer, but even so...she was not doing extra work, you morons. That pace was fast as hell for everyone involved and Simpson was basically just trying to hang around with bodies in front of her. To put it any other way is to ignore the fact that she was never more than 1-2 seconds behind another runner at ANY part of the first 900 meters. Let us not negate the fact that these runners are starting their kicks from somewhere between 3-400 meters out, or one would hope. So she "paced" 200 meters and then everyone began surging. Brilliant.
Furthermore, Rowbury looked like she came alongside Simpson during the homestretch with >500 to go, and then when the camera catches them again into the bend after the bell, Simpson has the lead. Who of us knows if Jenny didn't try a burst of speed with 400 to go, therefore forcing Rowbury to wait again?
Good God, this place runs with utterly retarded ideas sometimes.
