she had spoken about wanting to be a doctor on podcasts. She was a top student and probably would have gone to Stanford if Alberto hadn’t swooped in on her career.
you can hate on Mary for this and that but I think this is a cool achievement
Awesome. That is an extremely competitive school to get into. This just goes to show that it is possible to recover from being an all-time great prospect, best all-time while in high school to that point with 1:59.5/4:04/4:24/9:38, burning out, and going through years of psychological distress over the experience. Best of luck to her in med school!
Mary Cain also will now be competing for Ireland which now has 3 Top 1500 Runners Mary Cain will battle Ciarra Mageean for Ireland's Top Women's Runner, with the Young Sarah Healy #3 with Dreams herself of being as good as Mageean and Cain Someday.
“Mr. Salazar, your tests show some elevated enzymes but no heart attack. I recommend that you follow up with your cardiologist in the coming days. In my professional opinion, you should consider some healthier eating habits and you could stand to lose a few pounds. The nurse will be along shortly with your discharge paperwork. Nice to see you again.”
That is awesome. As a huge medicine and physiology nerd I hope she talks a bit more down the line about her career plans. Good for her.
This will last as along as Mary Cain's triathlon career. She doesn't have the work ethic for medicine (or for elite sports) and will quickly get bored once she sees that she isn't the best.
Salazar has Weight Problems? I always thought of him as a Skinny Kid from Wayland Mass.
If he is overweight it makes all the Great things he did in his Running Career even more Amazing, I did see Henry Rono with a big Beer Gut, beat College Runners who had just ran 14:10-14:30 in their Conference Meet a few Weeks before, They were joking that they would beat Henry Rono that Dat NOPE. My guess is Alberto Salazar is cut from the same cloth as Rono.

Agreed. Nothing she has done past her high school days shows that she can stick to what she says she wants to do.
AtalantaNYC was one of her pet projects, quickly forgotten after the intial publicity.
Triathalon a dismal failure, just a token effort.
Takes a lot of effort, commitment, and patience to be a doctor. Cain has none of those traits.
