Looks like we both had exactly the same idea, down to the same quotations as titles!

In the meantime, everyone should go listen to that interview.
Maybe the brojos should use this on the LRC home page instead of letting everyone see how wrong JS was about today's race.
At first I was super impressed by Jenny and thought, wow, that's pretty gracious of her for congratulating Shannon after getting beaten out as heir apparent to the American Record. But then I watched the video and noticed that it took her 4 minutes to say that, prompted by some pointed questioning by the interviewer to bring out the compliment. And when she said, "Shannon hasn't beaten me in years," it was a sharp correction to the Flotrack guy who suggested that they had been trading wins back and forth. There was quite an intense negative response there, and it was a glimpse behind the normal pleasant and professional face that Jenny keeps. That tells me there's quite a fire and rivalry brewing there. Good...keeps them both hungry.

Nice recap. That was pretty much my reaction as well.
I was impressed when Simpson went on to say that Rowbury's accomplishment wasn't about beating Simpson but about running an impressive race. That seemed especially gracious coming right after her sharp correction of the interviewer.
I also thought it was interesting to get a glimpse into how Simpson thinks during the race. I was surprised at how sharply she reacted to the suggestion that she couldn't catch Dibaba and Hasan. She was willing to concede that Dibaba was in a league of her own, but she made it clear that she and Hasan are real rivals, so it was realistic to try to run her down. .
quick google shows rowbury beat simpson at least as recently as 2012 in the 1500 at the trials. any more recent results?
rowbury also beat simpson in brussels in 2013, although that was due at least in part to the big pileup.
still funny the way the minds of these athletes work...

3 years seems like years to me
It's really a shame that in the last two weeks, Jenny's gone from being the favorite for gold at worlds to being in a position where she'll be lucky to get any medal. Dibaba is obviously in another universe, but Hasan is clearly better as well right now, and Simpson will have to contend with Rowbury, Kipyegon, and others for bronze. She's a great tactical racer and she still has time to catch up to Hasan, but she definitely has to be feeling frustrated right now.

Well Shannon really hasn't beaten Jenny recently-at least 2 years. And Jenny has been the class of the U.S. field. She has really had no U.S. challengers. However I hated it when she sharply corrected the flotrack guy. It was just so abrupt and like she wanted to set the record straight. Yeah, she did congratulate Shannon but, in her mind, she is still head of Shannon. I think this will set a fire in Jenny's career and I predict she will SOON take the record away from Shannon.
Maybe so, maybe so...but when she does, she does it big! Congrats to Shannon!
Jenny's a competitor and her remarks were accurate. She was extremely gracious and complimentary towards Shannon in spite of the very disappointing finish. I applaud her behavior. She's a class act.
They were accurate, but they were delivered with a thick layer of b*tch frosting.

Obviously Jenny is going to be disappointed about losing to another American who she's beaten so consistently over the past 2-3 years. But the interviewer asked a question that specifically built off of the (incorrect) assumption that they had traded wins or something to that effect. It would have been hard for Jenny to answer because that simply wasn't the correct history, so she really had to clarify.
Come on. If this were a couple of sprinters talking about each other, no one would even bat an eyelash.
TRUUUUUUUUU

Also include Dawit Seyaum and Aregawi (who has to be at full form). It is possible that the Americans will not medal.

Sore loser.
The Bay Area versus Boulder distance rivalry hasn't lost any steam that's certain
. Shannon is our baby😂
"B*itch frosting"!!!!!!!!
Ha ha ha! Love it!
I love the unspoken rivalry between Simpson and Rowbury, you can sense the tension when they race each other.
I hope they get on off the track, I assume they do since they're on the same national team.
This year's women's world champs 1500 has just got huge, if Dibaba gets gold, it's gonna be a hell of a catfight for silver and bronze.
Bay Area? Aren't they in Portland now?
PS: Forest Park > Lake Merced
What she said is totally fine. She has been the best American. She is proud of it. She must be disappointed because she is in great shape and could have been better today.
Great race by both women.
