Dude, is this woman a STUPID person? If she's not, then she knows full well that 8:00 pace is very slow for you...unless she doesn't know you have run 1:07 for a half. Does she know that? I would assume so since you know her PR.

If she DOESN'T know that you are a 1:07 half guy, then you should probably tell her. Sounds like this could be the start of a relationship, so no need for you to pretend running with her is difficult. Honesty is the best policy.

She obviously wants to hang out with you. What is important to her is what happens after the run...go and get coffee, chat a bit...you know, see if the two of you are compatible.

I've run much faster than 1:07 and on easy days I'd be more than happy to log some miles at 8 min miles or slower if it means running with my girlfriend. Because (surprisingly), easy runs are for recovery. If you can't manage running a single easy run at 8 min miles then you have a serious problem, regardless of how 'slow' you are (1:07 lol).

I’ve run with half a dozen or more guys that have run 1:05 half or better and all of them were fine running 8:00 pace or slower without making posts about on Letsrun.

Meanwhile, I know lots of 1:25 half marathoners who are also fine running 7-7:30 pace or faster on a regular basis without dying. Why would he need to tell her he’s 1:07 half marathoner? 1:25 is 6:30 pace for 13 miles. They can comfortably run 7:30 for 6 miles or whatever.

The whole thing stinks of snobby letsrun elitism that Flagpole seems to embrace. Oh, definitely spend the whole time telling a girl you might be interested in that you’re a sub-sub-elite half marathoner and that’s your entire personality so she can find a more interesting dude to fvck.

How do you run 8:00 pace? just put one foot in front of the other. It will be easy and who cares? if your are seriously worried about this you should just consider yourself lucky that anyone with a vagina is showing the slightest interest in you despite your clear lack of social skills. A girl is maybe interested in you. given you are the kind of guy that posts about that on letsrun i imagine it is a rare occurance. take the win, a girl likes you. not to mention it is a girl that runs, double win. and 1:25 is a decent female runner. Take an easy day with her and try not to blow it.

Yep, good idea. Run easy with the girl, and when she asks if you want to come shower at her place afterward say “No thanks, I’m gonna do some intervals now so I can get a proper stimulus.”
