What is Centro's/Leo's 1000m PB?
That's a sick pace...
I'd guess that with 1:44 speed for both of them, they should be able to run 2:15.
Looks like the potential for a delicious race
Now what is the WR 1500 pace? If I recall something insane like 1:49.x?
This is definitely going to be a great race to watch given the great field.
I am somewhat skeptical that say Kiprop will be willing to go with that fast of a pace given that he said he wants to focus on winning in Beijing. So it appears he might not be in that type of shape yet. There may be someone willing to go with the pace, possibly even Makhloufi will lead the charge seeing his recent 1000 results.
If it does go that quickly the rabbits will have a gap and this will turn into a 331 race.
this

well said.
That is a stupid pace, no one will follow it is 3:40 1600 pace or 3:42 mile pace, no one is running that
1:53 with field right there at 1:53.x-54.x would be right with a slight negative last 700M , always with a 39.x-40 flat closer last 300M
1:50 serves no purpose other than to turn the race completely tactical, because no one wants to lead the real grouping behind a big gap to rabbit.
They should re think that
2:17? be serious, who is running that fraction that is IN the race..
By 200m that would be what?
26 (assuming slightly faster off the line)
28 (first 400m in 54)
28
28 (second 400m in 56 = 1:50)
27 (1k in 2:17)
That doesn't make much sense. Who accelerates, especially at that speed, from 800m to 1000m?

Obviously the goal would be more like
27
27
27
28
28
So no acceleration at 800 - of course these are rounded, but it works much better if you move a few of these up and down a few tenths.
Nothing new.
Same as last year.
Last year's splits
54.08
1:50.84

It's funny to see Ventolin try to clean up his posting under different aliases. A bit of a TRIP INTO THE MIND!
At 1k? Maybe 2:19?

Clearly , anyone who has been on here knows I am certainly NOT Ventolin.
Seriously? He and I are so far apart on issues/predictions it is hysterical.
I also do not see the need to go 54/almost 57
At this level, a pacer should be able to go 1:51/52 completely evenly.
Yes. Considering the third lap was 56.65, the 1000m split looked to be 2:19. last year.
2:17 would be 55 flat pace all the way through.
rabbits haven't been doing so well the last few weeks. hopefully these dudes can get it together and run like they aren't possessed by the devil.

clueless
hicham went thru rieti-'02 in 2'44.75 when shooting for 3'24+ but faded to 3'26.9 as been out alone too long & said he "lost concentration"
clearly a race you have no clue about & definitely didn't see
2'44.75 is
2'17.29
pace for 1k
so 2'17+ in a 1500 is possible & likely has been seen as i doubt hicham was far off that even-pace 2'17.29

drivel
utter garbage
No one in this field is possibly in 3:24 shape
utter nonsense

LOL
I think some people have forgotten 2014 ended up being faster than 2013 although the splits were all slower.
The world record is just a tad under 55 second pace. 55 seconds is 3:26.25
Both years the pace has slowed from 800 to 1k and last year it slowed even more from 1k to 1100.
2013 2014
400 52.95 54.08
800 1:50.4 1:50.84
1k 2:18 high 2:19high
1100 2:32 2:33.2 (for Kiprop)
1200 2:45.91 2:47.49
1300 2:59.4 3:01
1500 3:27.74 3:27.64
In 2013 Kiprop was ahead of the rabbit at 1100, In 2014 he was behind him. Silas Kiplagat who won last year was roughly 2:34.at 1100 last year and still ran 3:27. He closed in probably 53.5.
Kiprop is the only guy who goes out in 53 point. I think if he would hold back a bit the first lap it might help him.
Kiplagat had a big close in 2014.
One take on why rabbits usually overdo it, and go too fast:

nice article. makes too much sense though, you'd think this would be exactly what meet directors tell the rabbits every race.
