It looked like when LSU QB Joe Burrow lost the national championship and broke down crying, he wasn't the same after it. He became awholenother beast. Athletes like them are different.

Burrow not doing so hot rn
Back2back AFC champs and 275million don't seem so cold. Injuries are part of NFL, sports in general.
So, you are saying that Tuohy is going to retire after this? Or move to the marathon? Because if she sets foot on a track with Valby at 3K-10K, the result is a foregone conclusion.

What's the foregone conclusion? Tuohy has not had a linear career, she was a high school star, plateaued, recently had a good year and a half in the end of 2022 until spring 2023, but has started struggling again. Valby has been closing the gap every year, and has now passed her. It's reasonably to think Valby could run 15:05 or so this year, which is right around Tuohy's PR, and no guarantee Tuohy will be able to get back to PR shape this season. Valby's stock is looking better.

She’ll keep competing and have a good career. That career may be even be a lot better than Valby’s. Tuohy seems much more passionate and committed than Valby. She’s just not as naturally gifted as Valby, who’s a one off. Huge engine. Very fragile.
Valby is currently beating athletes like Tuohy who triples her training and has been training like a pro since mid-high school. If she doesn’t break, she’ll be the top US 5000/10000 runner in three-five years.
I wish her the best and sincerely hope that she can improve, but is Tuohy another case of "too much, too young"? Another teen that trained like a beast in middle and high school, won all the big high school titles, and then didn't have anything left for college and beyond?
I firmly believe in The 10 Year Rule - once an athlete starts training seriously, they will peak in about a decade. We have a long list of Junior Olympics, age-group record setters, and the like that looked like can't miss prospects at age 12 only to be washed up at 22-23 exiting college. There are a few exceptions but most of our elites were still playing other sports between the ages of 12-16 before selecting running as their specialty.
Oh please. People have been writing the same crap for seven years. And what do you mean in saying she did not have anything left for college? Quite a few National championships and records for having "nothing left."
Let's see. She seems to have plateaued, and a lot of girls have drawn even and are surpassing her at this point. She is lacking her former dominance and when defeated, is well defeated.
Gault said Tuohy was sick past few days but OK. lol
She seemed totally fine at the press conference??
Yeah...that's what I don't get. When Tuohy loses to Valby, or anyone else, it's always an excuse. She's sick, she's had a long season, she's in a big block of training, she's took that race only as a training run. You know what, Valby is just better right now. Valby smashed the NCAA record. I think Tuohy is a sore loser and hates being beat so much, that she creates these excuses after the fact (after she blows up). I've said it before and I'll say it again, a lot of it is psychological. She needs to learn how to handle losing with grace and sportsmanship. She didn't interview after and disappeared after track Nationals too. I am saying this out of concern, there is something psychologically and emotionally wrong there. I don't think there is a medical thing, based on how healthy she looked at the interviews yesterday.

Is that your opinion? It better be as you have no evidence to back it up. As for the second half of your comment, nobody cares about your training when you are at the line. Only the results matter. You are making a big assumption that there is only one way to train. There isn't. Valby and her coach have figured out what works for her and the results show.

Did you just make stuff up? Joe Burrow never lost the national championship. He went 10-3 in his first year with LSU, leading them to a win in the Fiesta Bowl. The following year he led them to a 15-0 national championship season.
Idiocy. You honestly think this race is an indication of where she is in her career? At one point she was 11th. She got sick. Plain and simple. She was still breaking records all of last year.
She was sick. So she did not throw up at the press conference, ergo she was not sick and despite some excellent performances this season she was suddenly 11th and finished well behind runners she has dominated? LOL. Did not realize you can detect a fever in an interview. There are photos of her celebrating very happily with her team, but she had to go to the medical tent during the team interview. She has been gritty her whole career. Late last year was physical. Even after she ran 15:03 she said her training was horrible. But Tuohy still beat Valby at regionals in the 5000 last year after running the 1500m.
She has been under the microscope for seven years. I think she handles the pressure fine. This race was illness, not pressure, and she showed tremendous grit.
Parker is incredible and ran like CRAZY! I think everyone can agree she beat Katelyn today fair and square.
Gotta be said though it's CRAZY HARD to repeat as XC champ. And remember when Karissa Schweizer tried it? Pretty sure she placed lower than Katelyn did today and still went on to make multiple teams and win some national champs as a pro.
I feel like they both have great pro potential. And as far as Tuohy not handling pressure - it's been crazy pressure for YEARS. So yeah, it probably is insanely tough. Not many people have to come up against that. And she still finished top five in the COUNTRY. Relax. They're both awesome.
