For a month. Maybe. I'm glad she got it. Ups the anti and makes it more competitive. But I predict Jenny will get it before August 31st. 2015.
Sorry Jenny that the American record was snatched from your grasp. It looks like your dominance in the 1500 is about to be history.good try on your near PR in Monaco. It was a pretty good race, even though you were more than 7 seconds behind the winner.

Sorry Shannon but Jenny Simpson is better than you regardless of whether you think so or not. She has been the dominant 1500 runner in the U.S.A for the last several years and prominent on the international stage.
Good for you this last race. Yes you beat her. But you are, at this time no where near as impactful or respected as Jenny Simpson.
I hope you continue to improve and bring it. Right now you had one good race. Even though you were 6 seconds behind the winner.

Go back and watch the video. Jenny stuck her left arm out to impede Shannon's progress. They got entangled, and both went down. Watch the slo-mo replay.

she feels that she was tripped? anyone who saw that race could tell you that BOTH Rowburry and Simpson dove right at the line - only that simpson timed it better and got the win. They both tripped but thats no excuse. Rowburry just got beat out in that DL race
Yes I did watch the video:
"There was no Impeeding there: Jenny stuck to her line"..."Dives at the line. Rowburry realizes she needs to dive as well but reacts too late"
Not trying to be hostile, but you are mistaken. Rowburry cannot discount this loss on account of any impediment.
Their rivalry is similar to the short lived Webb vs lagat rivalry. Tactical race... lagat was clearly the better runner. For Webb to beat him had to be an honest race, except for a couple occasions in 2007. Now that's saying Rowbury is Webb and Simpson is lagat. Only difference is Rowbury has had success at the world level but most worlds for women can go either way where as with the men it's most likely gonna be tactical.

The problem with your analogy is that you think Simpson wins the tactical race. What you and others are failing to realize is that it is Rowbury that has found an extra gear coming around the last turn. Review the end of that Zurich 2014 DL race again. Rowbury was running Simpson down, dramatically in the straight. And coming off the last turn in their latest race, Rowbury turned on the afterburners and just blew away from Simpson.

That wasn't a tactical race. It was a fast race where Shannon was rabbited by Jenny who was leading the chase pack.
For a tactical race, refer to the US championships a month back.
No, the US Championships race is not relevant to the discussion, because Rowbury had blistered the bottom of her foot in the semi's:

You mean the race where Shannon was boxed in until about 70 meters to go but still managed to have the fastest final 400m split of all the competitors and was closing hard on Jenny in the final meters?

I don't know, it might be. I wasn't watching the mid pack in the race I'm referring to. I was too busy focusing on Jenny who positioned herself to win, and succeeded.
What most of you guys don't fully appreciate is how formidable of a foe Simpson now faces in Rowbury over the 1500m. But Simpson knows. Simpson realizes that (short of wonder drugs?), in order to develop that extra gear which Rowbury has been displaying coming off of the last turn in a 1500m, it takes months of training to develop, and is not easily countered with some changeup in training over a few short weeks.
What type of training? Was it these?
Those maybe help in the overall picture. But I think bunches of these are what really develop that extra gear:

The results speak for themselves. Jenny is a much better runner.
Exactly.
Shannon is faster.

Excellent post and I agree. I added these stool jumps (with weights) to my training after reading Peter Coe's book and found that they made a big difference in my ability to power it home at the end of a race.

But were you doing them at 7000ft?
Not sure (Ken Goe should know), but she may have previously done a track workout on that day the photo was snapped of her doing those plyo stool jumps.

Looks like she's got some pretty decent flight time per that photo. Maybe her Irish Dancing skills are another tool in the arsenal that keep her from a disastrous injury when doing them? Wonder if Centro can keep up?
