Although Dibaba's race was more impressive than Kiprop's, how about the stark contrast in reactions from fellow competitors. Outside of Dibaba grabbing Hassan for a hug, nobody seemed to congratulate her in the moments following the race. The rabbit/pacemaker did come up and congratulate her afterwards but I assume they are cohorts.
It seemed like a large portion of Kiprop's competitors immediately congratulated him after the race.
Of course, we are not shown much post-race coverage (Dibaba).
Is Dibaba just not as well liked as Kiprop? What's the scoop?
The scoop is you are reading into things what you want. You said a large portion of Kiprop's competitors immediately congratulated him after the race. The word portion suggest not all did so. So What if, lets say, 4 runners in the Kiprop race didnt congratulate him? Can we assume that those 4 have a problem with Kiprop? No, of course not.
There are a myriad of reasons why you might not go immediately congratulate someone for a great race.
you are shy, you are too tired, you're about to barf, you didnt want to intrude, you are mad at your own race results, you were pumped by your new PR, you were congratulating someone else that had a great race, you didnt have a chance to do so untill later, those that congratulated each other knew each other...making contact more natural, you never met the person, media was in the way/surrouning him and it would be silly to run over there and shake his hand, you actually hate Kiprop and think he is a cheat, your gay and Kiprop turned down your advancement in the hotel the night before....who knows....now please apply the above possibilities to the Dibaba post race "aftermath."
