This was by far some of the best race viewing of the year.
The East African runners are just dominating. It isn't that they just win, but every race they are dominating the top 20 spots. I know they have been doing it for awhile, but just shocking how far back the next best runners are (ones that we usually rave about endlessly in the context of winning domestic races).
Congrats to the the USA U20 teams for medal finishes. It was a good effort by both.
Highlights for me was the mud pit, but there weren't many falls. I believe it was USA U20 Shea who had one of the worst? The tires were gimmicky, but I did like how it forced single file as a change up. Maybe they should have made more of a gap between the 2nd level tires so jumping over was an OK option. I did see about a half dozen jumps. Gidey's collapse at the finish when Chebet came by will go down as one of the most spectacular moments in running.
Fools of the event go to some of the USA U20 men for doing finish line celebrations more than even the winners did although they finished out of the top 20. Also to the Chinese men for crowding everyone out front of the chute and line, then not even finishing in the top 65 running 35 minute 10k's.
