It’s possible he might be more talented than Cheptegei at the same age. 2019 Cheptegei is the same age Kiplimo was now and if you look at their accomplishments before their first world XC win Kiplimo has done more
He has won on the track. Last summer won both the 5000 and 10000 at the commonwealth games. I know you Americans will say that the CWG doesn't matter, but sorry to inform you yes they do
Kiplimo is so good he makes you utter nonsense? If you've followed Cheptegei's development from when he was running and winning obscure races in Spain and the Carlsbad 5k you'd know how idiotic and ignorant you sound. He's earned everything he has and his best days are ahead of him if he manages to limit his injuries.
I always thought Kiplimo had the more talent of the two. Cheptegei is hardworking and a smart racer when it matters, but Kiplimo has always looked like he has more endurance and power. Too bad he's not always as good on the track, another advantage Joshua has over him.
Dude looked like a million bucks and destroyed Cheptegei.
But I'm still not convinced he wins the track. He might be more of a half/xc/marathon guy.
Maybe he should debut a marathon sooner rather than later and figure out if his best shot at gold in Paris is on the road and not the track? Wouldn’t he make just as good a living, if not better, running road races, and medaling in world marathon majors as opposed to DL track races?
With that insanely difficult course his half marathon strength obviously came into play, but does anyone ever cover that move he made in the last 2k? It looked like he was in a full sprint up those hills.

Feels like the guy to crack 2:00 on a legitimate marathon course/race. He just kind of bounces along.
Cheptegei has sneaky speed and a fantastic last lap. But he is pretty inconsistent. I still think he is the best on the track but Aregawi, Barega, Girma, all have a shot.
I think Kiplimo is strength based despite his 7:26 and should stick to the roads and just dabble on the track for fun and some silver/bronze. Maybe a gold on a lucky day.

Gold medals on the track are more impressive and prestigious. Everyone knows marathons are for people who are too slow for the track.
I do believe Kiplimo is the greater talent. Cheptegei is great tactically on the track. He’s close to Farahs level when he races confidently. Kiplimo can beat him though if he measures his races better. I project him to be the best ever road prospect, which I know is not a hot take with that world record in the half.

He should drop everything and enter Boston. That’s his destiny. The greatest prospective marathon would just be greater.

Remember too Kiplimo was only a few steps behind Chep in 2019 World XC at 18 years old, beating Kamrowor. I think his best talent is on the roads but it would not be shocking to see him be the preeminent 10k guy on the track these next 2 cycles
