I would really love Rojo to hunt down and publish the IP address and name of this poster. I suspect we would all see this to be a jealous SoCal coach or parent. Incredible.
I'm not even arrogant but if I was in his position I'd be celebrating too, are you kidding me? This is a normal reaction and he looked good on camera tbf. A great look for usa imo
He was about 90 seconds behind the top 3 so I don’t think it was a great race for him and was comparable to running 14:00+ on the track. Ritz was only 42 seconds behind Bekele. I do believe it’s good that he stayed away from indoor track this year.
I think that course was unlike anything he's run before. He was probably content to let that contingent get away and just establish a strong spot behind those three nations and ahead of everyone else. I am glad he was happy with his race. I know I would have loved to see him mix it up in the lead pack, but this was a smart, strong finish! Hats off to him.
You’re a toolbox and a keyboard warrior. The only thing easier would be beating you in a 800 and giving you a 400 head start. Maybe pushing you to the ground with a pinky might be easier.
Also it was a race almost 2x longer in length than a 5K. Let’s say the top 3 would be around 13:10 level performance on the track…I’d comfortably say Leo ran at a 13:55-14:05ish level on an extremely challenging course.
Great race for Leo and the junior team; very smart to go out conservatively in that brutal heat on such a tough course. Getting a team bronze is impressive, given how tough the Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda squads are.
This was a great learning experience for the 2024 meet, if he and Lex target the U20 Worlds next year. I think Mathison is also eligible for U20 next year.
I still don’t think it was a good race for him. I expect the twins to finish in the top 20 at NCAAs this fall and in this race, he beat a guy that finished 120th last year by only 13 seconds. If he had peaked and/or tried harder in this race, he could have run at least 30 seconds faster.

We'll never know. He had to run a conservative race, given the race course, weather conditions and the need to have a good team result.
